i found this stuff called octane boost that you mix in with your gas at the napa store and by however much you add thats how much higher octane my dad is gonna pick some up for me next time we go by ther so we can try it out in my 416 up untill now we been running plus pump gas and we are gonna start running better gas since we had my motor rebuilt weve only ran bout a tank and 1 half and that was plus pump gas that bud told us to run for the first couple of tanks for a good break in and im gonna run the last half out today and i wanna know how high octane would be safe yet reasonable to run with my motor as described in my sig ?

Thanx

anything over 93 octane will be a waste of money.

I've always read here (on this site) that 11:1 and higher require more than 93 as long if it's a true 11:1. Most pistons are rated for compression using XR gasket vs EX. So if you bought a 11:1 piston and are running EX thickness gaskets, you prob are running 10.something:1 and can run pump fuel vs race gas or a gas mix mix with pump.

octane booster is not a substitute for race gas so don't even bother wasting your money octane booster actually will cause the motor to run hotter

i know its not a substitute for race it is just supposed to up the octane a little only 8 max it is just suppsed to make the gas a litlle cleaner with a little higher octane thats all not supposed to make it into race gas

I use cam 2 sometimes too, but that is a leaded gas I think and it gums everything up after a while. GREAT gas, but I usually opt for the C14 or C12 whenever possible. Also, I have run octane booster in desperate situations when I had to mix some gas up on the spot when I ran out ( way to be prepared right...) and it worked ok. I do agree with what Uglymotha said about it above though...

A Clarke 5.5 gallon gas tank fixes the running out of gas issue :-0

Yeah, but I race MX and only put like a half tank in for each moto to save a little weight... I just happened to leave in a rush for that practice session and got stuck working and couldnt make it out to the dealership to fill up on C14... Had to go and "premix" some gas for my bike with some octane booster after about 2 hours when I ran out of gas... Like Johnny dangerously said about everything... I ran out of gas ONCE........ONCE......

Ill never let that happen again :o

tc426 c12 and c14 are actually both leaded gases..found it in a vp brocere book. something like ultimate 4 or ultimate 2 are unleaded. i personally use alota u4 seems to run great and claims 6% increase in horspower

Leaded gas is better for the engine... But for emmisions reasons, it's for track use only.

leaded fuel won't gum up your motor, it's actually better for your motor, the lead coats everything and acts like a lubricant the only thing that lead would gum up was oxygen sensors and cats, our motors have neither so your good
