This weekend 6-27-04 was rd. 6 of the Pa State Harescramble series. The race was at a top soil and mulch supply on rt. 11 near Scranton Pa. The legendary "Back Mountain" track is filled with sandy whoops, slick clay woods, and long arm streching straights.

Lots of GNCC riders and ExRiders members made it back from the WISP.

A class start was Jarred Mclure (top 10 finisher in the stk. class at Wisp GNCC) taking the lead. Mike Lucas (GNCC#33) looks over to see who's there). I'm wheelying off the line!

Borich,Hertz, and Todd Rothermel(GNCC#29) were on the inside of the pic, they got squeezed in off the start and McLure took the lead.

Vet class eventual winner Randy Brandt!!!!!This guys really, really, flys!! I wish I could convince him to run up in the A class. With nearly 15 A riders and 30 B riders, he started in the 3rd row in the Vet class with 12 riders and won the class, AND finished 6th overall!!!!! Way to go Randy!;)

One of my 6 Hours of Rausch teammates Mark Carman had a horrible day. Here he is taking off with the Senior class after fouling a plug at the start of the A class. He lost the engine a few turns later and was packed up and gone when I got back to the truck!:(

Wes Stone was flying. He was in the top five the entire race. Wes took a break for a few weeks to heal form an injury. Since then he has had some of his best finishes. 2 top 50 overall finishes in the last 2 GNCC's and now a great ride at this round of the PA State series.

Anyway, here I am 7th in the A class 20 minutes behing Borich and in the middle of being passed by the front runners in the B class. The leader caught up to me while I was in the bushes!

I need to thank Joe Luzny for the pics.

I took the camera with hopes a friends wife would take the pics. She wasn't into helping, then Joe showed up...

Joe Luzny raced D6 harescramble for several years. After a great year in the B class he was forced to the A class by the MAX points rule. After a few decent races in the D6 A class he has decided to build his wife a house and take some time off of racing........Boy I hope this means I found a full time photographer!!!!!!!

A bunch of thanks to Joe and his friends for the pics.. He did not even know how it worked I just gave it to him and told him he could figure it out!!!! After a few REAL fuzzy shots he got it somewhat dialed in...... Thanks Joe.

Thanks again to EXRiders.com for allowing everyone to enjoy such great race coverage, not only from the GNCC's but from the LOCAL's as well. Keep up the good work Harlen!!!

Thanks Jason & Joe for the Race Coverage! I really miss racing the local races:( I just don't have the spare time to attend them anymore, but maybe over the break I will be able to make either Jack Frost or Back Mountain on my Stock Z.

I really enjoy racing both of those tracks. Plus, I miss getting my ***** handed to me by Chris Borich:D Also, everyone knows, Todd Rothermel and I use to have some great battles:cool:

I will have to see how well I feel, and how much work I have to get done on EXriders.com. If pappy comes and does the race coverage, then I may be able to race Jack Frost the next day.

Hey guys I am going to post Pics I had from yesterdays event, but I don't know alot of names so help me out!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:21 PM
I had fun yesterday, but with a bad start and constant arm-pump I just couldn't get er done the way I want to.

C class start. We had to start with the left foot ibn front of the machine and hop on while starting. Mine started first pop, but I let the clutch out before I hopped on. Took a couple secs to get going, but I was already in the bottom 1/4

Karizz

excellent Local coverage Jay!! Me JB500EX and JBYFZ450 made it there after the long drive from the Wisp! I ended up 6th in my class..that was a fun track! I was just happy not to get lapped by Chris Borich.:huh

There were a couple of open area's where it was pretty open, but as you can see in the pics the dust was a little rough. Especially in the back!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:24 PM
Another shot of the field section. Dust made focusing a little tough!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:26 PM
Here's Borich tearing up one of the dust bowls!

Randy Brandt smoking the Vet class with the only C-Dale at the race. Man I miss mine:(

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:31 PM
The whole track wasn't like that just about 1 mile of the 7 mile course. Here I come into the one dirt pit. It was odd, but as the race progressed I felt like that section of the course got slower. I guess we were loosening up the sand/dirt!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:32 PM
In the pit. That is me in the back!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:33 PM
A blaster working his way through the wood section of the course. The woods were fun, but passing people was a real pain. Due to my slow start I had to pass alot of guys which really slowed my time down.

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:34 PM
One of the whoop sections. Those shdows were holes!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:35 PM
This 450r rider coming out of the woods. I have to give credit to CDrookie for hiking through the woods and standing in bushes to get these pics.

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:36 PM
Another 450r making his way through the woods. There seem to be more and more of these quads at every race!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:38 PM
There goes another one hanging on for the ride!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:39 PM
Even the mighty polaris was in attendance!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:39 PM
Here is another section of the course!

Coming at ya!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:43 PM
Some bumper to bumper racing....Sorry for the fuzzy shots, but Bryan was learning as he went! I am prettty sure that the guy on the predator is Ray Monnett the leader of the PA Point series in the C class!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:45 PM
This guy was working the corner well!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:46 PM
See what I mean about the 450r. Either that or Bryan just like them so much he kept taking pics of the same one!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:47 PM
Working through this section could be tricky due to the many different size whoops in it!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:48 PM
This guy looks like he was having some fun!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:49 PM
Some of the sections of the woods were pretty tight, but not because of the trees.

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:50 PM
The auto sport class leader George Richards showing how to get it done on the v-force!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:51 PM
This guy just wanted a good close up!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:52 PM
Yes people still race the 400ex!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:53 PM
Oddly enough there were even a bunch of banshee's there!

Derno24
06-28-2004, 04:54 PM
Well that is all I have so I will leave you with this. I finished in 8th place and thought the course was cool. The key though is not to have to pass alot of people in the beginning. The leaders just walk away from the rest of the pack.

Yeah I still think the scoring was messed. Whe we finished I asked the guy what the comp said he said 6th. We get to the tent and they had to correct one guy and it droppped me 2 places. Still can't figure it out. Jeff finished one rider in between us and was scored 2 oe 3 places down. I don't care too much, but makes you wonder.

Karizz
06-28-2004, 08:00 PM
yea, Chuck ...he got me again! He did the same thing to me at Jack Frost last race....I was exhausted on the last lap, I aint gunna lie to ya....i tried to fight him off.... but I acknowledged that i was beat and moved over....Sucks for me cause I was 5th almost whole race! They only paid out to 4th place...I counted 13 on the line but they only scored 10?

Ya know its starting to annoy me that they dont update the www.bppoints.com (http://www.bppointswebsite.com) website and there wasn't any points update sheets at Back Mtn.Is it just me or does it bug anyone else?Or maybe Im just GNCC spoiled, their results go up almost the same day as the race!

There are District 6 meetings every couple of months.

The 2pm start thing this year, well that was just to try it out this year, they told me there gonna ask everyone what they think and make a judgement from there....Well if there asking what we think maybe we should be there.... Its usually a bike thing, it has been for years...If its all bike guys their askin then thats all there gonna hear is bike opinions. We need to speak out at the locals and get involved. I'm not gonna be the only one, so if ya'll wanna get something going let me know.

Chucky's missed the $ by one spot every time he's raced so far.... That was only his 3rd race in modern time....He used to be a 3 wheeler racer in the 80's... Thats one of my old R's he's runnin....ahhhh the monster 350R..... Chuck is our ACE wrench and pit guy for the 6 hour race at Rausch, he's an awsome diesel mechanic too!!!!!! We kept bustin his balz about racing again, he tried Frost last year and got hooked again.

06-29-2004, 04:21 PM
i was going to go but i blew out my rear shock at the wisp. i got 12th place in the 4 stroke a class. ad 57th overall. thats not bad wit a blown out rear shock.

06-29-2004, 05:52 PM
that's a lame excuse treebasher! should've just threw a piece of angle in there and rode hardtale for 1.5 hours!!

gotta agree with J about the meetings. unfortunately the last one was during the foot of the mountain 2 day race! who scheduled that?

my picture taking skills need some work. once i got use to the camera i got better, but i was deep in the jungle by then and it was tight. almost got runover a time or two. some guys were just too fast to get pics of. i took a BUNCH of them but some weren't very good quality. couldn't figure out why the racers looked so beat after the first lap. i was walking the track backwards and was wishing i had the dale. got to the first half and from then on it was nothing but whoops! lots of big whoops!

06-29-2004, 08:16 PM
i kinda did that a foot of mountain. i bent my rear shock there and finished. it s not wort it. i craked my frame, and swing arm. lol

Derno24

Jay,

I am very interested in the meetings. Let me know when you are going and maybe I'll catch up with ya. Where are they usually at?
