engine noise

I am having a problem with my z400 I put a curtis sparks header and pipe on it about 10 hours after I got it and about a couple of weeks later It started making this really loud clank when I pop the throttle a idle speed. It also makes a nasty chater when I am in 4th and 5th gear at about 3/4 throttle. Does any one know anything about this.

jet the carb and check the valves..i kno on the 400ex's u hear a clicking noise by the head when the valves need adjusting mine got really loud and i went to adjust them and they were so loose any longer riding like that and i would have ruined the top half of my motor..so maybe check that

Hey thanks man for the help I am going to check the valves and see if they are off. do you know anything about it puffing out a little black smoke when you rap it out in netral.
