I have managed to come off my quad at every single XC race I've ever attended....:p If I ever DO get to the checkers and haven't dismounted myself I'll throw myself off the quad at the line so I can say i'm consistant...:eek2:

The first Dirtbike I ever tried was my buddy's YZ426F . This is NOT a good learning bike . I'm short ( 5'8) and couldn't touch the ground , so I got my Buddy to kick it over for me . Once it started I swung my leg over , grabbed the clutch and nailed the throttle . As I darted towards the trees , I was thinkign to myself ( and thinking outloud) " Oh F**k , This Is gunna hurt" . I grabbed the front brakes just before I became "One" with the trees , Did a 90 degree turn , dumped the clutch and watched as the back wheel came out from under me , front wheel way in the air , and my face taking a dirt sample . Needless to say , I never rode anything on 2 wheels after that .

i agree, my uncle had one, i thought i was going to die when i rode it, i didnt think it was THAT fast, so i was just putting around till i got the hang of it, so as usual i opened it up, well when doing this it went into a wheelie and scared me chitless, i let off the throttle and find my self coming towards his truck, i grabbed the front brake and the front tire locked up and slid out from under me and i went down, bruised my butt cheek and my thigh :(

they look alot better here on my screen at full size and resolution. i am still trying to figure out digital...and i practice all the time trying to get the most out of it. i have learned a few new things about digital that will hopefully let me do even better!

thats a sweet pic pappy, so clear

Pappy
07-04-2004, 09:42 PM
thanks...

ive noticed a few quirks with digital that im not sure can be overcome within the level of camera i own. it may take money to get into a camera that will produce pictures as clear as my 35mm set up did. getting into digital on the pro level will net you a $20,000 camera body:p and thats not counting any lenses.

although the average person with a $200 digital camera can produce decent stills and might be lucky enough to overcome the damn delay those cameras have they just cant match 35mm. Fortunatley for us the industry and technology keeps getting better!

ofcourse it still takes a working knowledge of photography to produce consistant and good pictures all the technical stuff aside:p but with digital its so easy to practice and it doesnt cost you anything so thats a huge plus. i bet ive spent $10,000 on print film back in the day before i had images that id say were great:(

i still have trouble sometimes with the delay and the clearness of the digital camera, that why i was suprised at the clearness, sometimes my still pics arent that good:o

Pappy

digital loves light. i have been using full manual mode to overcome some short comings in the matrix metering and its working really good i think.

try following the action with your camera and swing with the moving quad. it will help with the delay probelm
