I can get a new 400ex for 4499.99 and a trx for 5999.99. Thats a
1500.00 difference. I ride trails and track and like to hit pretty big jumps. Is the 450 that much better than the 400? Suspension, power etc. Is it really worth the $$? Also I know its only its second year out, but is it reliable? I know honda wouldn't make a bike that wasn't reliable.

i was in the same boat as you and im glad i spent the extra for the 450. To me its 100 times better than the 400. Dont get me wrong, 400ex is a good machine, but the 450r is awesome.

It's the first year out...

And I think it'd definately be worth it, even for trail riding and jumping. Well, definately jumping.

I have a 400EX and when I rode the YFZ450 it made me want to dump my 400 and move up to a 450 immediately, and I do basically the same type of riding as you.

I haven't ridden the 450R yet but supposedly it's really nice for trail riding (especially if you move down to a 13t up front) so I think it'd definately be worth the extra 1500...go for it!
