I run the PEP neoprene shock covers. I love using them they save my shafts from getting pitted out from roost at the track and they dont chip the paint on the springs like the velcro kind... I WOULD like to get a pair of those sick quad tech ones that just protect the shock like Kory Ellis uses though...

I do/did. I plan on not using them anymore after I get my shocks back from DeRisi because they take the paint off and cause them to overheat.

if you guys like the quadtech ones
you can make your own jsut like them (jsut not carbon)

A few guys i know made them for theyre inverted forks o ntheyre mtn bikes.

just use pvc pipe and cut it how u want it, heat and bend it etc.

mounting would be diff. on a quad shock i guess though, so you would have to figure that part out

I wanted to see if Elka would sponcer me with some, to protect my shocks, but from the sound of it things get to hot, so I will be keeping them un-covered;)

A friend of mine had them on his Cannondale and the rear one actually caught on fire b/c the exhaust pipe.

thats just because the c-dale shock is so close to the exhaust. I melted alot on my c-dale..

I am picking up a set of PEP shock covers... Those seem to be the best.

If a rock from roost hits the shaft and chips it, you'll start eating seals up and eventually have to replace the shaft... WHich is expensive.

I run neoprene covers and like them a lot. As for causing the shocks to overheat:confused: It might a little but truly don't see it causing that big of an issue.:huh

Hey Rico, suppose a fella wanted a set of them neoprene covers...where could one get them and about how much?

Also, so they say anything on them...I run the Shockwears and am pretty pleased with them. I guess I'd rather heating up the shock a bit then risk anymore chit flying at my shocks and doing some real damage.;)

Mark Baldwin told me that the little stories about shock covers affecting performance through heat is total BS. He said they do not affect performance at all and to keep running them. I sure dont want to have pitted out shafts from roost and start eating seals as Rico has already pointed out...

wow. I cant believe how many people voted no! I will always run shock covers, why let dirt and stuff damage you shocks? Its like running with a hole in your airfilter :eek2: you can get by like it is, but why risk it?

the elka covers seem to be quite tough, I like my PEP covers a lot as well  (couldnt go wrong with either)

so shock covers are really that important? if so then i'll be buying a set used off my friend. the ones i have now are red.. and my quad has the white/blue scheme going on, and my friends are blue, so i'll buy them. i didnt know it made that much of a difference
