Can someone help me out here?
Got a 2002 250EX, white bros pipe, jetted, runs great..........until you really get it to the high rpms, then seems to mis-fire.
Is there a rev limiter on this quad? Sound like that is what is happening?
What can I do to stop it? Is there higher RPM rev limiters? Disconnect it? suggestions?

Thanks!

Yes there is a rev limiter on this/all quads.;)

Well you could always cut the rev wire, but this is highly comdemned by anyone. Just wait until you hit that rev limiter then slightly let off the gas.... don't push the machine's limits.

Appreciate the info............but the answer Sux!

Anyone have any other ideas out there? Can I fut a higher rev limiter on there? (Probably not)

What wire do I cut (and where) to eliminate the rev limiter?

Thanks!

the rev limiter on that quad is set at 8200. leave it alone, that motor wasn't ment to rev past that and wont tolerate it.

the 20" tires are really a trade off on the 250ex. you gain acceleration but lose all the top end(which put you in the rev limiter) about all you can do is go back to the 22" tires that it came with.:(

wrong, rev limiter is set at 8750 rpm. it's a pushrod motor, pushrods+ high rpms= KABOOM.

Thanks for all the info everyone.
Ryan, you are running 22" tires does the rev limiter ever kick in while in 5th gear?
Thanks!
PS. Am running White Bros E pipe, jetted, K&N filter

it can, but i hardly ever need to run it to the rev limiter in 5th.

you'd be better off getting a different quad if you're looking for more speed.

Not to burst your buble or anything. But the only way 250exer's are ever gonna be able to avoid the rev limiter deal is to get a bigger engine or bore it out. I'm in the same boat as you bud so don't feel bad... I'm actually thinking of putting a 450 in place of the stock 250 just to be different.
