2001 250EX Drive noise

I have an '01 250EX bought used. It runs great and was barely ridden when I got if for my daughter. When she is riding I hear a winding or low pitch whining type noise I suspect is coming from the drive shaft or rear end.

This is the first non-chain drive bike I have ever owned. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Not sure if it is normal or if something is wrong.

check to see if the seal on the left side of the drum is in, and if it is look around it to see if theres a gasket...if its not there you need new bearings. wut happens is that mud pushes the gasket in and it get in the bearings then the seal doesnt fit back in...same thing happened to me u just need new bearings and the seal...if its not that just check the oil in there

I believe that all 250ex's make that sound. When we bought mine new we thought the same thing but its nuthing i dont think.

the sound it completley normal! listen to a big ute quad next time you see one. you can hear it wind and unwind.

Thanks for the replies. There was no water in the brake drum. I think it must be normal after all.
