Here's the deal.

Cheap 2000 CRF450R engine on eBay, just needs the exhaust, radiator, and the mountings for a quad frame.

I already have extended a-arms for my 400ex and haven't had any luck with selling the EX, otherwise I would go to a 450R.

Would it be worth it to get a running CRF450R engine for around $300-400, buy a radiator, exhaust, and get the special mounts for it rather than trying to sell or trade in for a 450R?

Where can you get a radiator and mounts for the EX frame? Can I buy the special engine mounts or do I have to send my frame in? Who would be a good place to send it to? How much would the radiator and mounts cost?

Anymore information would be helpful.

I do woods riding and I'll be starting MX next year, never got into it this year because of my job on the weekends. I want to have something that will compete with the new 450's without having to go buy a completely new quad.

Yea the guy was probably retarded or something, or maybe not even a 450 engine was what he was selling. I didn't buy it either way because of his bad feedback.

I'm still looking for a 450 engine though.

ya, my dad is trying to decide wether my next quad is gonna be a 450r, or a crf450 hybrid, or a 250r.. i dont really like the idea of a 250r because i've never ridden a 2 stroke..but between the other 2..i'd liek to have the crf

if youve never ridden a 2-stroke, then stick with 4-stroke...

ive had both...2 and 4-strokes.... and i prefer 4-stroke.

CRF450r engine in a 400ex would be cool it should be able to take a stock trx450r. Since it's not detuned like the 450r motor is.

I've ridden both and I own both, I prefer 2-stroke.

I know 4-strokes are a lot easier to ride but I just can't get enough of the awesome power of a twin cylinder two stroke baby!
Now if I could get a 4-stroke with the power of a 2-stroke...I'd get it...that's why I would love to own a YFZ450, I've ridden one and it reminded me a lot of my piped Banshee. That's probably why a lot of people don't like them.

iv had a banshee and ridden MANY blasters and LT250r

400ex is my first 4 stroke sportquad and I cant get enough how much I LOVE 4 strokes..

4 Strokes to me are much better at MX anyways... Torque is a MUST need!!!!

The 450r is a much better option unless you can't afford it and the brakes are sweeter

basically it comes donw to two thiongs $ and ability, if you got the $ why not just buy the 450R and mod it , but if you got the ability and the tools to fix this crf motor into the frame yourself and do the necessary mods and maintence b/c you will run into a ton of little problems you will have to address, and if you got the skills go for it , that way would be cheaper but if you have to pay someone everytime you need something stick with the 450R
