What kind of power comes from bumping up the compression? Would there be a noticeable difference?

yes there is a total difference if you bump up your compression. your front end goes up easily from the power. i knew i lost compression from mine when it was un able to do a wheelie

without adding a cam i don't think the difference will be really drastic. with a cam, you should get a nice gain.

Higher compression is a big difference.

Cams and any other mod help but compression creates alot of power. (and problems but..whatever:) )

Compression makes power that is harder hitting and stronger pulling through the RPM range. A cam really accentuates the added compression... There are problems with adding too high of compression esp. on the 400ex motor (although most do it anyway) such as more stress on the crank bearings, blowing head gaskets, etc... It is a benefit none the less that makes a significant difference. I wouldnt go higher than 12:1 on the EX motor, but Ive seen 440's that are 13.5:1 before. 11 or 12:1 would be fine..
