I am dead set on holeshots, but I need to know which style is going to be best for my type of riding... I do an equal amount of trail riding and mx racing... Which holeshot is going to work for me best, and what size???

take my word for it....you absolutely dont want holeshot mxrs....sum bioches wear down faster than u get them...ive only used my mxrs 2x on the mx track and rode them arround my house a couple of times and already the lugs are starting to fall off...the tread is TOOOO soft...i dont kno ne thing about the new mxr4...their tread compound posta be a bit harder to prevent tread flex because of these 450 machines with all this hp....so i dunno what to suggest to ya cept some kenda klaw mx's....

im going to be ditching my holeshots here pretty soon to get some kenda mx's...if i like the kenda mx's better than the holeshot mx fronts and mxr rear ill stick with um...but if not ill sell um and go back to a set of holeshot fronts and mxr4 rears

You should call maxxis on the size.. I run Maxxis Razar's front and rear soft #397 compound and they are 3 times better than a MXR holy**** holeshot. They weigh more but a least stay on the bead and do not wear out on the first ride. 2nd choice would be the classsic turf tammers and 3 rd would be kenda. Kenda seem to wear really well but do have the hookup like a maxxis or "grooved turf tammer". Kenda seem like a good tire if you ride trails and track, but specific for MX I would not buy. Holeshots are last due to the wear out way to fast. They really do great for one race and then they are junk. See what you friends are using.

If you do trail riding as well i'd get a set of klaw mx's. They are good on the track and in my opinion they are alot better then holeshots or razr's in the woods.

Good choice. I'm very happy with mine. My wife's quad has holeshots and they do not hook up very well at all. Plus the holeshots only have a few trail rides and they're already showing signs of wear.

If there called "holeshot tires" then why dont they hook up very well ?

No tire does both well. THey will have major shortcomings on both situations. You will **** holeshot MX tires on the trails. SO I would say go with a set of 20 inch Razr, or the tradtional holeshots, and 21s in the front. THey wont work great for mx though.

I suggest you use your stockers for trails and INVEST in a set of bead locks 8 inch. and some rolled alluminum up front and get a set of Holeshot MXR-4s, and switch them whenever you ride.

Kendas wear out faster than MXRs, and loose their grip integrity more than MXRs as they wear.

Just stick with the stock tires. Best all around for a little bvit of trail and mx. That or keep your stockers for trail riding, and get a set of kenda klaws for mw. It only takes 5 minutes to swap wheels if you have two sets of rims. And the stock rims are actually really strong and good fro trailk riding. Plus you don't have to worry about bending expensive rims.

I recently got a set of the new mxr4 holeshots and it was a big improvement over my grooved tamers. I havn't noticed much wear yet.

itp's problem with holeshot is...they try to make a light weight tire....but in return of having a light weight tire the tread compound is really soft in order to have them light weight...ive never heard any 1 complain about how razrs wear so i dont kno about them.....and i aint heard any 1 complain about how the kenda's wear...so kenda from now on will be my weapon of choice...and not only that....kendas are like 10 dollars cheaper than holeshots

I'ev had razrs all around, and they were awsome. I race harescrambles and they wore down slowly and they hook up nice. Just my $.02

Douglas aluminum rims look amazing but their kinda weak....one of my freinds has them on his banshee and they look amazing but they are said to be weak but he hasnt had a problem with how strong they are, they hold up pretty good:)

The question for rims is how much do you want to spend?

Mid range. Rolled bead Douglas up front, and champion bead locks in the rear. I use this set-up for MX and the rolled bead will take a serious beating.. And no worry on the bead locks.

big dollars $$$ Hipers up front and Hipers in the rear. If you run Hipers in the rear on 8" you use a hub that is supplied from hiper. It is aluminum and works fine. You can get 9" and use your stock hubs on the rear. I use the for XC..
