450r questions

Ive rode a 400ex and i loved it. Good suspension, decent power, etc. Also I heard their really reliable. Is the Trx 450r as reliable? Also, how much better is the suspension on the 450r than the 400?

The 400ex to me is more reliable than the 450r. The 450r is a race quad and there's more maintenance on the 450r. For the 450r your supposed to rebuild after 30hrs of use (this is what a dealer told me). I also found out its $12.00 for a spark plug:eek2: and $80 for a service manual (400ex- 3.50 sp, $50 for manual). Also, if your valves need a adjustment (friend has one and needs adjustment), you have to buy shims versus the 400ex doesn't. I'm not knocking the 450r but for reliablity, I would choose the 400ex.

You have been misinformed.

The first valve adjustment is at 100 hours. Yes the spark plugs are expensive because they are Iridium. repairmanuals.com has a trx450r manual for 59.95 a whopping 10 bucks more than the 400ex *whoopie*.

Lastly Honda is not going to release any product that is not reliable. Sure there will be some freak bikes but that happens to every model.


250king the suspension differences between the two bikes stock is pretty far apart. The 450 has an updated frame and adjustable suspension making it handle much better. Also the 450 has execelent brakes and tons of smooth power.
