on page 257 in the new Dennis Kirk of road catalog, there is a page for a cam company called Hot Cams. They make them for a lot of dirt bikes and 400ex and raptor. They are only $132 w/o a core return! They say they will work with the stock valve springs on the 400ex. I am not sure about the rockers, but on the xr400 it says it works with the stock rockers and springs. They have different part numbers, but the specs are the same. They also have a stage 1 and 2 for most of the applications including the 400ex. Stage 1 "provides exceptional increase in mid-range and top-end power. Use stock valve springs." Stage 2 is "Engeneered for closed course and desert racing only. Uses stock valve springs."

Stage 1- Intake lift-9mm Intake duration-246 Exhaust lift-9mm Exhaust Duration-246.

Stage 2-Intake lift-8.8mm Intake duration 254 Exhaust lift-8.6mm Exhaust Duration-254.

How do these specs compare w/ other companies? Which would work better w/ my 440? Has anyone ever heard of Hot Cams B4?

Check www.webcaminc.com their 400ex cam has a longer duration and the site has alot of good info.
I'm in the market for a cam, not sure what I want yet, any experiences would be welcome.

These are by far the best deal for a cam I have seen. The are obviously better that an xr400 cam if it says it offers much better performance on an xr400. I was thinking about the stage 1 kit to run with my 440. Would there be any difference between the xr400 stage 1 and the 400ex stage 1 if the specs are the same? I am just curious because the xr one says it retains the stock valve springs and rockers and the ex one says it retains the stock springs. Doesn't mention anything about the rockers. They do have slightly different part numbers. Are the rockers different between an xr400 and 400ex? Which would be better for a 440, stage 1 or 2? Thanks

There stage 2 is 254dur. at .050
lift is .346 in. & .338 ex.

This would be the better cam for your 440, and they claim you can run the stock rockers. This is pretty much the HRC cam good cam choice.
