I am buying a Pro Circuit Slip-on pipe and a k&n filter that bolts directly to the carb for $150. I am wondering what kind of gains I should expect from that setup, the rest of my motor is stock, and I run 18 inch tires and a 14T sproket up front, stock rear. I am also needing help on the jetting.

thanks!

i assume the gain would be noticable. i assume you don't ride in any harsh conditions? i am not too sure on the jetting but i would try around a keihin 158. you like that low end power don't you? those 18's with a 14 front will give almost no top end.

I ride MX, and the track I mainly race at, is pretty tight, but if I go to a more open track I switch back to a 15T. After every ride, I usualy wash my filter if it looks dirty.

Does this sound like a good set-up, for MX? I will eventually go into a 416 kit and a TC cam, but I gotta get my handling up to par first with A-arms and axle and suspension. Let me know what you guys think of the pro circuit slip-on and k&n clamp on. I order a 155 and a 158 for the main jets, and it should be either of the two. I also order a 55 for the pilot. and I'll put the air screw at around 2 turns out. Any help or comments are appreciated.

thanks!

First off i would like to say that you made the right choice upgrading the suspension and handling first. You can only go as fast as the suspension will let you. As far as the pc i have a full system with a k&n and run a 155 main jet with all the other settings stock. It runs good like that with the airbox lid on with a few holes drilled in the top. So a 158 or even higher maybe would be good. You just have to play around with it until its right. Hope this helps.

a 55 pilot seems large. i was thinking more like a 42 or 45.

I called Pro Circuit and told them my setup, and that I'm at sealeval, and they said around a 155-158 main, and a 55 pilot, so that's what I ordered.

Hey man, whats up, it's
paul the dude who sold you the handlebars... That setup sounds about right but Ill agree and say that a 55 pilot seems a little rich... Try it out, but Im only running a 45 pilot on a buit TC motor and I cant imagine youd need a 55 for a slip on. Try the 158 main jet first and then if its rich go down to the 155. If it is still lean with the 158 (which I doubt) then you know to go up even more. I run a 185 or 192 in my FCR so I am only guessing at what you would need, but I say use the bigger jet first...

Well, I just picked up the Pro Circuit headerpipe, to go along with the silencer. Now what kind of jetting should be done? I still have the 155 and the 158 coming in the mail, along with the 55 pilot.

thanks

I was thinking that with my full pro circuit exhaust, and k&n clamp to carb filter, I should run like a 158 main, but I don't know about the pilot jet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Dunno man, but I can tell you one thing... I hope you dont ride in ANY mud or soft track conditions at all, because if you do you are at a major risk with that direct bolt on setup. I know you are in florida, but if it rains and you race with wet soil or mud, that is ALL gonna get caked right on that filter and kill your performance. That is especially dangerous with a K+N since they pass more dirt as it is. I would be leery of running w/o an airbox. Usually that setup is just used for Dune and drag quads or flat track/TT machines...

Dude, I was talking about running one WITH an outerwears obviously. You know as well as I that an outerwear will NOT be sufficient protection by itself for muddy or soft conditions... WIth no airbox the filter will be exposed to everything spraying off the tires under the fenders, and alot more than with an airbox at least without a lid. It is water REPELLENT not proof, and once it gets soaked forget it, the motor will be ingesting wet muck soon thereafter...
