450r Trans?

I know oil questions are done all the time but this on was not asked as I can see>>!!??

I was going to run Pro-Honda HP Trans oil SAE 80W/85W in the trans and run Mobil 1 15w50 red cap in the motor side.

Does this sound like A winner!!!!!


I believe the owner’s manual calls for 10w40 in the trans. So is the Honda HP oil all right??

I'm running the HP4 20w50 in the engine and Honda HP trans 80w85w in the tranny.

I but it in nast night then ripped a hole in my side wall of the frount tire, I have the best luck.

Im using that tranny oil also. Its the best tranny oil out there for any quad that has seperate oil for tranny and crank.

About changing the oil in the crank..... thats up to you.

Personally, im sticking with the oil that Honda made. Honda's oils are awesome. They made that oil especially for the crf450. Im going to continue using it because of that fact. Its a very high performance oil and you know for sure that you cant screw up with it.

Oh yeah and the manual actually says that you can use the HP 80w85w tranny oil. So it is for sure okay.

Im talking about the oil in the Gold and Silver bottles.

THERE IS 2 EXAMPLES OF U DOING THAT IN THIS THRED ALONE

U SAY U USE HONDA TRANS OIL AND RED CAP BUT IN A DIFFERENT POST U ASK IF IT IS OK AND IN A NOTHER U TELL A GUY ITS OK TO CHANGE THE CRANK OIL AND TRANS OIL AT DIFFERENT TIMES THEN ASK IF THATS OK ON A NOTHER AFTER THE FACT!!!!!!!!!!!

Any ways I read the owners manual and under recommended trans oil the first one listed is Pro-Honda HP Trans oil

SO it is all right to run and its recommend by HONDA !!!!!!!

what about Amsoil :cool: that is the only motor oil i'll use, but about the transmission oil? could i just use the honda trans oil with the Amsoil motor oil?
