I was wondering what a good 416 kit would cost but one that is kinda cheap and provides the most power.. Im interested in buying a 400ex, and i have ridden one enough to have a feel for the power, and it just needs more. I appreciate it if somone could help me. Later

Check out Marcum's (http://www.motorcycle-atv-pwc.com/). He can get you a 416 piston w/ 10.8 CR, xr400 cam, Cometic gasket kit & Viton valve seals for about $275. Then you have to have the cylinder bored, which will cost $60-75. You can go with a higher compression & a more radical cam, but the price will jump real quick.

i got my 416 from marcums for 148 including sending the cylinder boring..

You could get the Marcum`s 416 Kit, or you could get the Hetrick`s 416 Kit. The Hetrick 416 is $500 with your Choice of Cam and Installation. I would go with the Hetricks.

Hey thanks for the response. What type of pipe would you suggest be the best performer for it ? The 400ex i want has a FMF Powercore 4, its pretty nice. Would that be good for the 416 or should that be sold and a new one purchased? Thanks again

You can keep it on there if you want,,I've got a powercore IV/2 on mine and it works just fine..:D

Higher compression = more power

and yes the yoshi pipe should work great with a powerbong header,,make sure you get a cam with the setup also,,,very important part of a 416 hop-up...:D

Go ahead and get it ported while its apart. If you dont have a place to do it I can have it done for you for about $120 at the most. Thats much better than most places and this guy does a great job and has been doing it for a long time and has done many!!!

I would get the Hetrick 416 Kit, Hetrick Pipe, and a 39mm FCR Carb. That would be a Great 416.

Yeah I want to know about that Setup. It sounds really Good. A Dyno Run would be Sweet. Then we could know what a 416 or 425 Motor is putting Out.

NACS, You will End up Paying a lot more then that for a Sparks Motor. The Cam Setup will be around $500. The Cam is $199, the Valve Springs are $110, and Harden Rockers are $200. That`s just for the Cam Setup. $189 is just the Piston. You still have to Bore the Sleeve. There is a lot of things to think about. You could also Check out a TC 416 Motor.

I would have to agree with Sparks racing as far as an engine builder goes but they are over priced as far as labor rates and there is like a 6 month wait.:devil

How much is a TC mx cam? And does anyone have this cam and if so how do they like it. Im thinking about the 416 or 440 with that cam in it, i already have the tc pipe, and i would eventually get a fcr39 carb. Does this sound like a good setup?

Tommy 17

i have the tc mx cam... its 205$... its given me awesome power with my 406 piston... i can't say anything bad about this set up!!!

NacsRacing400, Are you talking about getting a Complete TC 416 or 440? I think the MX Cam would be the Way to Go. You will like it.

NacsRacing400

I guess you could say im geting the whole tc kit because im useing all of his parts but im not sending my engine to him, im juist buying all the parts and doing it myself and haveing a friend of mine port and polish it. Do you think those combinations will make a fast quad. And how much more power do you think i will get over a xr400 cam? Thanks

Dave400ex
03-30-2002, 10:42 AM
That`s how I want to Build my Motor. I just want to get all the TC Stuff and have a Guy I know put it together. It won`t be a Complete TC Motor, but it will be Close. You should have it Back together Faster then TC will. What all are you going to Buy? I think it will be a Great Setup. I`m not really sure on the XR Cam thing, but I`m sure the TC Cam will have a lot more Power then the XR.

NacsRacing400

Im going to buy an 11:1 piston and the tc mx cam, Thats what im buying off of tc. Then i already have the tc pipe and silencer. And then like a month after i do all that im going to buy an fcr 39 carb. All of the machine work will be done buy a friend of mine that owns a quad shop. This will include full porting, polishing, boreing out the sleeve to a 416 or puting in a new sleeve to a 440. then i will put it all back together. I figure it will be close to the power of a full tc kit and i wont have to wait forever to get it done. I can have it done when i want it done because i will be the one doing it.Thanks for all the info

I talked to Tom yesterday about a XC Motor. He said all I need is his 425 Piston Kit, XC Cam, and his Pipe. I told him I already had his Pipe. That`s only like $300 worth of Parts. He said to keep the Stock Porting and Carb. Some day I think I would get a FCR Carb though. I can`t Wait to work on my Motor.

If I had the Money to order the Piston and Cam I would be Riding before you. I am getting Shocks first. If I can get a Job this Summer, I hope to get the Shocks, and then should I get Tires/Rims or Motor Work?

ChadEXer

Choices choices, its all up to you. Whats the most important to you?

Dave400ex
04-02-2002, 09:48 AM
Well I know for a Fact I am getting Shocks First. I really want the Rims/Tires and Motor Work both. If I am going to Race XC I need the Rims/Tires and a Higher Horsepower Motor. Man I have got to Find some Money.
