The 50cc start was business as usual with Micheal Mussi (green arctic cat) grabbing the jump off the line

Pappy
06-19-2004, 06:44 PM
Lil'man made him work for it to the first turn, then he faded back...big smile on his face...and rode for the fun of it:p

As Mussi grabbed another win, the 90cc riders were ready to roll:macho

Kyle Riley #863 grabbed the holeshot with the pack hot on his heals.

Pappy
06-19-2004, 06:47 PM
Cody was outside and midpack working his way to turn 1

Pappy
06-19-2004, 06:49 PM
Heading into turn 2, Cody jumped to the outside of this rider taking the spot

Pappy
06-19-2004, 06:53 PM
Near the end of lap 1, Cody appeared off-course with 2 other riders behind him. He had taken over 3rd spot and missed a turn that wasnt clearly marked. As soon as they realized what they had done, the 3 riders turned around to re-enter the course where they had taken the wrong turn.

Tragedy struck as the 5th place ride Issaih Summerfield made a bad decision causing him to crash severly.

He took his Lt80 over this rock ledge and it rolled on him as rider and quad smashed into large rocks below:( At last report he was doing ok and we are all praying he is only bruised up

Pappy

Back on course, and having lost 3 positions Cody looks over at the injured rider:(

Pappy

Brandon Boso had a commanding lead after Riley rolled his quad and couldnt keep the leader in check

Pappy
06-19-2004, 07:01 PM
Knowing he was behind, Cody rode his heart out trying to make up positions. Here he hammers his 90 thru a creek

Pappy

Finishing 6th was decent seeing that all these riders are awesome!

hey pappy why do they run the caster camber backwards on those little quads? I'm guessing its to make them turn sharper without alot of weight transfer?

Hey Pappy,

How many quad showed up for this event??? Looks like ya had some fun. I was trying to make this race but it just wasn't in the cards. :( I'm gonna make the next one he has up there though. Should be done with all this movin stuff by then.

i think there was 61 quads for the adult race, and prolly 22 or so in the youth. the next race at timberline is in august.

Chino had mentioned that they were going to cut it off at 200 quads. I didn't think they would get that many but still an OK turnout. I am going to the August race for sure. The smaller the turnout the better for me and my skill level!!! :D

the course was almost perfect. an awesome mix of terrain and the 900 foot double black diamond was used as a hillclimb:macho

we had insane rain friday morning and more friday night....nothing was dry but the course didnt start getting bad until the 3rd lap. the rocks werent too bad IMO but the drastic change in altitude reaked havoc on a few quads...mine being one of them. Brent Sturdivant told me to leave the woods in 3rd pinned and swing wide to tackle the hillclimb. I did just that on lap1 but ended up in 1st gear by midway up the hill:( lap 2 and 3 were no better and the bike had no power and was cutting out. that was kinda scary on that big and steep of a hill:p

i know what your saying pappy... i dropped it into 1st and held on going up that hillclimb, if you lost it there, you would be needing a new quad

Ya didn't happen to get the name of that hillclimb??? Was it "The Drop" or "Off the Wall"??? I have done both those runs on skis before and they are some steep mofo's!!!

Pappy
06-21-2004, 12:41 PM
i have no clue what the name of the hill was. they just kept repeating double black diamond. i geuss thats a ski term for "you will die if you attempt to go down this hill on ski's:eek: )

on the 3rd lap, i pulled over at the top to get a look at just how big this hill was. well the view was insane but the hill was so steep i couldnt see down it:p

Yeah I think you was the first to ask about me.....everyone came around and bout hit me so i layed a branch behind my bike and walked all the way back to the pits ...it was a long walk! it took 2 vinsons both with winches to get me outa there and they were to worried about tearin there bikes up so they drug my quad on the skid plate all the way back to the trailor! Are you coming to the Mountain Top race July 4th to take pics and let the boys race? If so get some pics of my bike. Maybe I could get ya to take pics of it up close before the race and then I would have some nice looking pics of it to put on here cause I can't figure it out lol to high tech for me! haha

Pappy
06-23-2004, 08:47 PM

He has changed the track around so that it is not so rough. It is still really rocky but it is one of my favorite tracks! I always do good there. Took 2nd last time we were there! was a lap and 10 mins ahead of 3rd!I was having a ball! haha! You should come out and give it a try! Shouldn't be to bad for the youth!
