embezzelment???

I just got off the phone with my friend and he said his dad is in trouble for stealing money from his work (7000 dollars). Would this be considerd embezzelment? What kind of time are you looking at in prison or jail?

I dont know many details about this whole deal besides that he stole 7000 from the safe at his work over about a 4 month period.

If he physically removed money from a safe than I doubt he's going to be charged with embezzlement, probably felony theft charges. Laws differ state to state but I'd guess a minimum of 1 year.

The only reason I say I doubt he'd be charged with embezzlement is because I've seen armored car employees steal money from the safes just as you described and they always got felony theft charges (if the amount was big enough).
