I know its just a Mojave but check it out. I just like them and they make good racers. I made most of the components myself like a arms and swing arm and steering stem and stuff because they are hard to find for a mojave and I can't afford those prices anyway. I built the engine with a CWR big bore and port job, 380 lift cam, high rev springs, oversize valves, hardened rockers, lightened flywheel, klr cdi unit, supertrapp exhaust, FCR 37mm carb, my custom air intake system, modified shift pawl, and more.

suspension is my design and has enormous travel up frt and in the rear. 400ex spindles, brakes up frt with RPM frt hubs in the mail (will be on Monday night) a arms are +7+2 and the swing arm is +2.75. The frame is also highly modded, changing the whole frt geometry. This is the second mo i have built check it out in the "supermojave" albums in the link below. Jjust go to the last album if all you want to see is the finished product. the others show construction.

Nicest looking Mojave I've ever seen. You may want to rethink the header tape though. I had it on my 300ex and it traps a lot of moisture and rots out the header. I took it off after just one season and my header looked like swiss cheese. Lookin good though.

boogie u amaze me... i seriously think u should start a frame business or a-arms... get a jig and start making sets...

that thing looks awesome but the only question i have is why no airbox... i'd be scared to run one without it anywhere but the dunes...

AWESOME JOB!!!

The mojave air box is very restrictive. ;)

Good idea. How much for a set of +1s for my ex?:D
Seriously, that is one of the nicest quads I've seen in a while. What kind of power do you get out of a Mojave engine? I've never even ridden next to one, so I have no idea what kind of numbers they make. Great job, I love everything about it (especially the uniqueness factor).

I was thinking of getting some of that stuff. Did it help with the heat at all? I live in Phoenix, so I don't think moisture will be much of a problem.

Yeah it helped alot with the heat. My right leg stayed much cooler. The only thing is that when you wash it the tape gets wet and doesn't really dry very easily.

Thanks. The wrap was used because I did not have the money to ceramic coat it like my other mojave(the #6). I put several coats of header paint on first and I only want it to last until I get a few bucks to ceramic coat it. I think I will wrap it again after the ceramic coatingis done, should not rust then and I would have two layers of heat barrier. I also put 6 coats of the special paint they sell for the wrap over the top of it, thats why it is silver. I hope it will seal out some moisture.

Thanks Tommy, hows your project doing now? I do not need a air box around the filter. I run in no deep water since it is pretty much mx only and the foam filter and water resistant outerwear does a good job of filtering. A box with the lid off is not much different except that it is a little more restrictive. That is a 300ex filter on there.

Yes, it holds in a lot of heat. used on many drag cars to lower under hood temp and keep the heat in the pipe for a better scavage.

To all that gave the nice comments I say thank you. It has just been finished. I am still working on the jetting and stuff. It feels good running around my yard but I have not had it to the track yet. I will post the results of how it does. I worked so very hard on that thing for about a year and a half to complete it. Components were built in a crude way and I am very proud of it and just wanted to show it off after all that labor of love. You guys are the folks I knew would appreciate it for what its worth.

thanks again

I believe power is close to or maybe a little over 40hp. It runs real strong. The guy that I bought the big bore kit from has a mojave with 55 hp that he flat tracks. I have surprised alot of bigger quads with the #6 quad and it is a stock bore with about the same mods except for the oversize valves. I have no way to dyno it to find out so I will always wonder I guess.

that quad is quite impressive. your redesigned front end is just unreal, i couldnt imagine how much work it would take to create something like that. have you ridden on it yet?

Only around in the yard. I have a couple acres to ride on but no jumps. handles the corners well though. and with all that travel up frt you can have the frt up at wheelie height and still have the tires on the ground.

and yes it was a tremendous amount of work and design time.

boogiechile = ExRiders.com suspension specialist:D

that stuff is amazing and i realy admire the work and im realy interested in the geometry and what all goes into making the correct geo for things such as a-arms and swingarms,

i know with the front end you want the least change in camber throughout the travel of the wheel.

if you do not mind i and im sure many others would appreciate some info on this subject

thx alot
Ralph

wow..that thing is awesome.. looks like you do good work...I have one queston.. It looks like the shock mount on the a arm is on the bottom of the a arms. Shouldnt the mount be on top of the bottom a arms, (like stockers). so when you jump your weight will go onto the a arms and not the welds... i dunno, sounds confusing or i'm just wierd...lol... :blah: .........keep up the good work:D

Man, you are a genius. I have always had respect for Mojave's. The engine was way ahead of it's time. I don't think they get the respect they deserve. Looks like you have the frame geometry thing figured out. Looks as good as any Lonestar or anything else I have seen. I just like to ride something unique. I MX with an 01 Raptor and I have a Cannondale in the works. Stick with it. That bike is waaay cooler than any YFZ or TRX just because of the way you built it yourself instead of just buying stuff. If you ever want to sell it, let me know. I don't need it, but I would definitely respect it.

Bubba, you ever seen a Laeger's Pro-Trax front end? Built the same way. It's the best in the business. Not just because I have one.:D

hey thanks; The shocks do mount to the bottom, but a lot of arms do like leagers and houser. It is done that way because it is long travel. With 19 inch shocks you have to either lower the shock mount on the a arm or raise it on the frame. Even though I did relocate my frame shock mount there was not enough room to raise it enough. So that lowers the shock mount at the a arm. You can still mount it on top but you have to bend the a arms down gull wing style like roll design and some others do. I do not like to bend any more tubing than I have to. Bending weakens the tubing and for me is hard to get all tubes the same since I have no good bending equipment. (I bent all you see with a conduit bender) I dont mind bending the top a arms since they do not have to be as strong but I like keeping the lowers straight. Did you look at the way my shock mounts are made with the gussets and all? I really dont think the shock mount is going anywhere.

protraxrptr17, Thanks, yea I like to be different too and the Mojave is the ticket. I show up and people either do not know what it is or think a Mojave is a joke. They find out different. And you are right about doing it yourself. I think I got more satisfaction and am much prouder of it than any quad I would have built just bolting together some aftermarket parts I bought.
