I just got a 300ex and im not realy sure when to shift like when to shift up or shift down. :confused: I know how to shift its just i dont know when please tell when to or give some tips:D

when the engine gets louder thats when you should shift.
youl should downshift when you want to slow down.

Ryan300ex, Hey not sure exactly what you are asking for , but I'll give it a shot anyway, If you decide to climb an incline I would practice attacking it in first gear, as you build confidence try second gear , if the engine starts to lug(feels like it doesn't have enough power to pull you up the hill) downshift back to first. When accelerating on level ground I like to "feel" the bikes power curve,when accelerating the engine will begin to feel as if it isn't "pulling" as hard as you wind out the gear, that is usually when I shift(hopefully before you hit the rev limiter).
In short if the bike is lugging the motor downshift a gear
if running out of revs upshift.
And remember nothing is a better teacher than practice.
