I was thinking of going to a 14 tooth sprocket on my 2002 400ex. But i was just wondering would i have to change the chain size on that at all? Also does anyone think a 14t is a bad idea...and should i change the rear sprocket as well? I pretty much just ride the woods, hill climbs and jumping. My EX's motor is pretty much stock with the execption of my K and N filter and air box filter. Thanks for the info

If you like to do alot of wheelie's go with 14T. But, I think that if you do alot of trail riding it will limit you top end if you try and ride in open areas. I just went to a 16T because I was running out of gears and still had alot of engine left, but I have a 440 with just about every mod and still keeping the quad ridable in the woods. With the 14,15, or 16 you do not need to cut or length the chain, just adjust the carrier some.

your chain won't last as long with the smaller front. i am going with 15 front and 39 rear

i ride mx and i use a 14/36 on my stock motor 400, for me i feal it works great, you can run a 15/39 and get the same affect but i like using the samller rear sprocket, it gives me better ground clearence.
