So i was riding around my yard hitting some jumps and then i decided to top it out in my yard....i topped it out and forgot i had to brake!!! So i was sliding for about 50ft with all of the tires locked. It hit a tree and when i inspected for damage there was nothing! Just a stick in the front a-arm. I hit the tree pretty hrad, i know that because i was thrown off. Luckily the quad stayed on all fours except when i hit it, it just went up on 2 wheels and slammed back down.

The tie-rod is supposed to bend first. As someone pointed out, if the tie-rod is too strong then something else will have to give, and it's probably more expensive. Also, if you smack the thing into the ground and the tie-rod is too strong, something may snap completely, then the bike would be completely unrideable. If the tie-rod bends it might steer like crap but you could still limp it home. If you're riding hard enough to bend tie-rods then you either need to back it down a notch to match your ability or be prepared to spend money at that level of use. Everything is designed with a specific purpose.
