depends on what kind of shape the 250r is in and what year, what kind of riding you do, blah blah blah..... The 250r will be better for the long run because you can mod the power to the moon, where as a blaster will stop short of anything to impressive. I've never ridden a blaster but I've heard they're a alot fun for smaller riders because they're so lite. But long term I would definatelly pick the 250r.

If you need to ask, maybe you should just get a blaster.;)

If that's how you want to look at it :p Just don't be disapointed when you realize how fast a modded 250R really is.

blasters can do well over 80 mph with the right gearing/bore etc. one of my freinds' blasters did 85 on a radar gun on the road. he had a 300 big bore, high compression piston, different gearing, fmf pipe/silencer....the list goes on much longer, i never rode the thing but ive seen it:eek2:

If you are going drag racing get the blaster or whatever. But if your racing any other thing lets see it handle at these speeds.

What im saying is that you can make an R handle a lot better for less money than you can make a Blaster handle.......and a Blaster doesnt handle to good as it is. So you can make an R go fast and handle awesome with no problem. But to do it to a Blaster you will run into a few problems. thats all lol

Unless you throw a 240 big bore on the blaster, it won't touch a stock 250R. If you want an entry level beginner/barely intermediate rider bike.. get the blaster. If you want a high performance bike, then get the 250R.

Comparing blaster to 250R, is like comparing a 250ex to a yfz450 or trx450.Blaster power = toylike, 250R power (slightly modded) = godlike.

blasters can be made to be pretty fast, but there's just no comparison to a 250r from what I've seen at the track. But you've already made up your mind on what you want anyway so i'm done with this thread.

if i were you i wouldnt even consider a blaster if a 250R was in the picture....my dad just bought a stock 250R (besides the pipe and silencer) and i have the new 450R...anyways i was 5th gear pinned and he was 6th pinned...guess who was ahead of who?

the 250R w/ just a pipe is faster then the 450R w/ a silencer....now if my dad had bought a blaster i woulda laughed at him:p

It's entirely possible that a modded blaster is faster then a stock 250r. But ain't no way a modded blaster is faster than a modded 250r.

I can not believe a Blaster is even being compared to a 250R. It seems that 97% of the members on this board have never ridden, been around, or seen what a good running 250R can do.

I hear ya on that one. They think blasters just as good because its ONLY *50ccs* bigger than an R

It alright, all these kids have something coming for them when they actually line up and R to a Blaster.:eek2: They will have to get used to seeing the backend of the R.

This thread made me laugh. If you want a Blaster for...uh...doing whatever it is they are meant to do, then get it. If you want to be able to ride fast, handle great, not blow up on you every 5 minutes (you know what I'm talking about flyin#5!) then get the R. Haha...jk...for some reason Mike's Blaster just loves to explode.

Just go for the R and save yourself self-hatred later on for not getting it.

(No flame to people who love Blasters, they just don't make sense to me...and yes, I've ridden stock and modified Blasters, not impressive AT ALL)

my buddy has a blaster with the 240 kit on it, yes it is fast for a blaster. he crashes it all the time. it handles like crap. a blaster is good for what it is intended to be. (A cheap entry level quad).

they are like fat chicks, fun to ride untill your friends catch you on one...

Okay, enough of this bullchitting, get the damn 250R KID!!!!!!!!!!

You will HATE YOURSELF FOREVER for getting a Blaster over a 250R. The stock 250R is going to be hell of a lot better than that "modded" Blaster you want, especially in the handling department. I'd rather have a fast great handling quad, than a semi-fast quad that is going to kill you if you try going on a track with it.

Get the 250R! Just do it, don't even think about the Blaster.

Okay?

Who cares if you don't have money to mod it out, it's going to be great in stock form...and when you do get the money to mod, just a pipe and silencer, it'll really wake it up and it'll still handle great!

This kid must be the dumbest person ever...Let the kid buy a blaster, in year or so he will be buying a R. If he is still alive.

i am still in shock that some one could think that a blaster and 250r are even on the same page. don't they teach kids in school common sence any more...

DO NOT BUY A BLASTER...WHY DO YOU THINK THEY ONLY $3000 BRAND NEW?

I agree 100%!! I have owned both, and there is no comparison! I think my '86R is my fav bike I've ever owned, even over my current 450R. Two strokes rule, but not blasters!!

man kid you must be on crack or something, putting a blaster on the same page as an R is like comparing a corvette to a VW bug

Hey man, VW Bugs can be made to go fast...with about $10 million worth of parts, then it'd be about half as fast and handle half as good as a Corvette...so that makes it worth it right?

Ha jk...I hate Blasters...I just don't see the point in them unless you want a $5 quad. And the excuse "I don't have enough money for a good quad" is not an excuse, there are plenty of 400ex's and 250R's going for real cheap that are in great shape.
