Do i need a chain press tool to do this, rocky mountain told me that i didn't.

Are you talking about getting the stock chain off??? I just used some bolt cutters:devil:

oh no, i'm talking about putting the master link on the new chain, my bad i didn't specify

Just use some vise grips, and a screw driver, worked for me.

Yeah, I used a needlenose to get the master link on. Make sure you put the link on the right way (so the closed end is in front) and just use 2 of the little tabs coming off the side of the chain to get it on there. Be careful though, because I snapped mine the first time I ever tried it and had to buy a whole new master link assembly to fix it. If your new chain is an O or X ring, make sure you clamp avise grips on the link the master link is gonna go on to make sure you have a large enough gap to fit the master link in. The new X and O rings are fresh so you gotta smash em a little bit to get the right clearance. I left a vise grip clamped on it all night since I did it in the middle of the week and when I snapped the clip on the master link it was easy.
