My 400ex is having some problems. When you hit the gas i just about any gear it cuts out and almost dies. It has a new spark plug in it. If jetting is the problem then i believe it has stock jetting. All that is done is big gun exhaust system. Let me know please/

your probably running lean...your supposed to richen your jets some with aftermarket exhaust to compensate for the more flow of the exhaust


i have a t4 complete setup (for sale) on mine and i had to go up a jet size so u might try getting a size or two bigger jets

Yeah, if that thing has a full pipe with stock jetting its not gonna run right at all. you need to take the time to re jet your bike. Running lean is the worst thing for it, so call big gun and see what jetting they recccomend and start from there. You may need to compensate a little based on your location but it should be in the ballpark. Also, if youre not running an aftermarket filter youll want to go ahead and get one before you re jet or youll need to do it all over again....

Ok can anyone tell me what what my jetting should be. I have big gun exhaust ( full system ), K&N filter, and aftermarket cdi big. Let me know please.

i got my k&n kit and it came with a dynojet kit, right now i am running (with those mods in my signature) a 170 main jet which seems to be just right, try it and see....you can also play around with the needle settings

ok ill try that anyone else have any suggestions. Also where should i go with the needle up or down?

Maybe move it down one notch from the stock setting, but the 3rd should be ok.

make sure your choke is turned off.

well i changed the jet and ran it again and it changed nothing. Got any other solutions? and yes choke is off.

the the air box lid on i would try a 155 keihin mainjet. also, i would take the whole carb apart and the jets too and spray the heck out of it with carb cleaner. i have a feeling something is clogged up in there.
