I have the air box lid cut like a HRC one. The spark arrestor is gone and there is a 2" insert on it. (The one on Ebay- it's basically a flange with a 2" exhaust outlet and a spark arrestor screen)

I am running a 185 main and a 50 pilot with the air screw at a half turn out. You could probably leave the stock pilot and it will work ok.

I am in PA and don't really know the elevation, but it works fine for me.

I also have my needle clip on the lowest mark, which raises the needle. I'm not exactly sure if that is necessary or not...I haven't messed with it much.

These jetting suggestions came from the guy who makes the exhaust insert, which is almost like running with no baffle at all.

The insert basically allows you to remove the baffle and still have a spark arrestor. Running with no insert at all should be the same jetting wise.

mascman, you said your air screw was a half turn out. Do you mean a half turn from fully closed, or fromstock?

thanks

Sparky........

When you try it out will you PLEASE post your results and what you ended up using? I need the same info. but im at 6-9,000 feet, so what ever works for you, ill back off a size or two and should be right on.

I sure would appreciate it. Were going to the dunes this weekend and I want all I can get from her stock! I did go to a 13 tooth front sprocket, but have not tried it yet. Should help get the sand tires going I hope.

My air screw is 1/2 turn out from fully seated.

This makes me think that you can just use a stock pilot by turning the air screw out more than the stock setting.

Mine runs fine at all RPMs, with no backfires on deceleration.

It starts as easily as it did stock.

where does everyone order their stuff from? I'm having a hard time finding parts. rocky mountain atv is limited. I'm looking for the different jets.

Man just head on down to any motorcycle shop that sells quads, you most likely have a(sp?) meikuni carb, any one will work. My dealer litterly had hundreds of em.

Trout, sorry but i wont know for sure untill this weekend either. I went ahead and put a 182 in it today, and cut the airbox lid. It started up fine and reved out very good, but you can never really tell until you wind it out in fifth. I'm gonna take it down the road tommarow, but its risky because i live in a neighborhood.:huh oh well, i have a quad to jet.:)

Saturday were headin on up to lawrence rec, they have a drag strip there and we will bring all our jets, and get it right. I'm also gonna try to jet this POS FCR thats on the 416. Even though i wont get it wound out tommarow, ill post whether it pulled good, or backfired, ect.

good luck
See ya!

I assume you have the 450r, you can get jets for this at any shop. they're the same jets you would find in a 400ex.

ehs racing told me

jetting is really quad specific there are many factors to it to
get it perfect but usually with the 450 you will want to start around a
170-175 with a stock pipe and a 180-185 with an aftermarket pipe

That is with ther Outerwear lid.

does this sound right ??
