Say if i were to run a 18" tire and then switch back to the 14 tooth stock gearing, is this close to the stock 20" and 13 tooth? I know that there is a gearing calculator out there, but don't have the link. . . So i came to the source!

i havent run 18's yet, but from what feedback ive gathered 14 and 18" tires work really well. i run 13 and 20 for the woods but wouldnt think twice about the other combo for MX

I run stock gearing and 18's in the back. Works pretty good. I'd recommend it for mx.

jmoney, did you ride your quad w/20" on the stock gearing before the 18's and think it needed the 13 tooth.I ran my 13 tooth on 18's this weekend and it was way too much shifting and wheelies.Thought I'd try the 14/18's this weekend.

Yes I did ride it around with the 20's and stock gearing for a couple weeks. I felt it was geared pretty high and would probably put the 13 tooth on the front if I stayed with the 20's. Not sure why honda geared it this way but luckily it's easily fixed. Maybe they figured alot of people would put 18's on it for mx racing.

now i am running 18's on back and 13t sprocket of the front and i race mx. it does really well. it pulls hard as crap off the line in second gear. and it is completely stock and i am up against fully piped and jetted predators, yfz's, 400ex, 250R's, and i usually get a good start not the hole shot everytime but always in top 5.

i never wheelie with my setup and i have 18x9.5-8 tamers in the rear and stock gearing, nothing like stock.
