The race was held at Longviewmx (http://www.longviewmx.com/)

A night of rain calmed the dust from Saturdays race, actually it was quite muddy for the bike races. When the time came for the quad races the track was in great shape, not too muddy and no dust.:)

Pictures from Saturdays race can be found here. (http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=111131)

They have sand drags, a mini track, a sand track along with the MX and Grizzley courses which this race used.

JOEX

Just a couple hundred yards from the Columbia River which is going to be dredged soon. The sand from the dredging is going to be deposited at the track.

Nice Coverage Joe. Yes that is me Jeff Bocook. The track was rough, but the course was a blast. It rained all night. The bikes got hammered with mud. But for the Quads it was perfect. Great race everyone should have made it.

Thats a great job Joe! I have raced a lot aginst Grey Ferrando before, he is pretty fast... I wish i could made it, I will prolly just try to stick to mx as much as possible, I dont like gettin all muddy...:( I would like to get a bike, and set it up for WORCS racing, but I cant even afford the one I have. Great job Joe! Hopefully we will see more from ya in the future!:D

great job joe! awesome pics!

i think i discovered what the problem was, the spark plug boot was loose... when i tried to pull it off the tip was arc welded to the plug in a small spot.

wow it's not everyday you see a w-tec eraser in a race. How did it perform? Those things are neat, but the plastics couldn't be uglier, looks home made. I wish they'd update the skins to go with all that technology they got on that bike.

daddio

tim took 5th on the w-tec. he said it was fast, but a handfull. and he is used to a banshee. he did get it stuck once and got help to pull it out. I think it would make a great deasert racer. it's a little big and heavy for moto-x or small x-country races.

06-15-2004, 03:20 PM
Yes, It is a boat. It weighs like 6000 pounds. Kidding. I think it was design for Point D Vu. It is really fast in straight line. It is the only thing heavier than a banshee... Mike Walsh runs the same motor 525 KTM in a R chassis. That thing rips. The W-tec is ugly

hondablue you didn't say 1/2 of the story!
the original caption with his pic above was something to the effect of 'breaking it in'... that is more true than any of you know.... his girlfriend bought the quad the day before the race, then they came to the races 'just to watch'... he had to bum gear( he'd left all his @ home... wasn't planning on riding) & get set up to race once he decided that it looked like fun & was going to go for it... great job, you finished!
how'd the machine fair?

well i found out why the quad was running like poo... broken reed and a failure in the silencer(perforated tube inside broke off & was rattling around) i was planning on getting the FMF turbine core II eventually anyhow.

Didn't Arlen from LRD mention using reeds from a different motor?

AndreS
06-30-2004, 02:58 AM
arlan & i discussed using a delta-V reed block. (the reed block bolt pattern is the same as a 97 CR250 i believe.) but to do it, i would have to sacrifice my rad valve & have it machined to fit the new one, since the delta-V block doesn't come with a boot & nobody makes the proper one to fit on the Gasgas. my total cost to make the conversion would be about $180... ~150 for the reed block & about 30 for machining. i may do it later if i'm feeling up to it... maybe if i decide to go with a motowest motor kit later on, i will. i'm curious about his progress on the pipes, i need to talk with him about jetting sometime too.

for now, i'll just throw in some stock reeds & go. it's almost time to do a top end anyways.

something i discovered while i had things apart... my brother has a rad valve on his LT250r and his motor is torn down right now too... i just got curious & started making measurements... the reeds are virtually the same size, within .002" on every dimension... i may buy a set of them for my next set.

I had a great time on the course. I showed up with like a lap left in the ATV race Saturday, so couldn't ride in unclassified and check the track out. I finished 9'th in Production A. I could have pulled like 5'th or 6'th, but my 2'nd lap was like 15 minutes. I got stuck behind that kid that got stuck in the bottle neck. That is also where Doug and Josh passed me. Also that lap I blew a corner and got stuck in the bushes. I had to have race officials help me pull it out. Other than that one lap I was doin low 10 min laps. I was riding a YFZ450 and hadn't even ridden it yet with my new Rossier Eng Exhaust on it. It worked great.
Yeah, that off-chamber corner did suck pretty bad. It was coming right out of a pretty fast stretch on the motocross track. It would have been interesting to have us use the logs like the pro motorcycles!:D
