Hatfield/McCoy ride - Camping

Anyone that is interested in going on the H/M ride June 28,29 &30th and needs campsite info, reply to this thread. We are going to make reservations soon.....so.....if you guys wanna stay at the State Park, let me know....I'll call it in for you guys.

Im game how many tents can you fit on a site?

Last year we only needed one site. We had one big 5th wheel with us and we had 2 big tents (5 men + tents). I would say you can get atleast 3 tents per site....if not more...

Sounds like mostly everyone is going to be using tents. Maybe we'll just call in two sites. That should be enough room for around 6-7 tents. Whats our final head count? If there seems to be more than 15 people going, I might get a 3rd site.

Yep...they have showers that are actually pretty nice for a campsite and they do have fire pits for camp fires. I dont do alot of camping, but the people we go with do.....they say its one of the nicest places they have been to.

Ok, I need a headcount/tent count. I figure we can fit around 4 big tents on a site. I know we will have a 5th wheel and probably atleast 2 big tents with our group. This will take up most of our site including our quad haulers (aka trucks). Maybe we should get three sites just to be on the comfortable side....

Well as far as i know it will just be me and one other but others say they might go. If it will be a problem we will just get our own site and **** everyone can use it as extra space. I just wanna be near all the action. :devil :blah :square

Ok, we reserved 2 sites. The 2nd site should be open for around 3-4 big tents (depending on size)...we might even have room for a tent on our site after we figure out who all is going in our group. The place does not take a deposit (but you do reserve your space)...you pay as you arrive to your site. I think we might have paid something like $5 per tent and our friends with the 5th wheel paid $30 for full hookups. These prices might have gone up since the trail system has been growing. When I get home, I will post the website for the campsite and the phone number.

BTW, I recommend this campsite...seems the most secure, VERY nice camping areas and is about 20 min from the trailhead. There are closer camp sites...such as devils arse (or whatever its called) but it looks very shady.

Oh and I almost forgot...be sure to bring your drinking mug for the evening! :D :blah

Something like $19 per site/per night. Check the website....personally, whatever it is...I'm paying it. Its not that much....I think the $19 per site/per night was even for a 5th wheel with full hookups. So I'm sure a tent site would be very cheap...

Looks like we got two sites. Each one has a camper/5th wheel. You guys are more than welcome to stay on our site....they have no limit to how many tents you can fit on it. Also, if it comes down to it, they should have other sites open....this is their off weekend.

yeah if there will be some slow pacers then ill see if he wants to go but if not then ill just come alone.

We ride at a pace to where everyone can keep up. Every once and awhile, if some guys get a bug up their butt....they can take off and just wait for the other people.

Remember, we are riding with a few 4x4 quads, so the overall pace wont be very fast....just more techical riding (ie...find a hill climb and watch people try it, mudholes...etc)

If you feel like riding fast, just grab me and a few of my buddies and we'll run 'em WFO. :D

We have a wide range of ages going....I'll probably be one of the youngest (24) and goes all the way up to people in their 40's....

Welp.....so far everything is on plan. I think knightime and a few of our friends will be leaving Thursday evening, so we will be all ready to go for Friday. It also looks like we are going to be bringing down a few turkey fryers for turkey and wings.

I'll have to post some pics of our trucks so you guys will find them at the campsite (which will be very easy to find...its only a one road campsite...cant get lost).

LOL, I hope it doesnt end up like Knighttimes camp this past weekend (first day of trout). Drank WAY TOO much. As soon as I got out of my truck, a beer was magically placed into my hand. This weird occurance kept happening all night until I passed out. Very strange..... :huh I think the X-files did a special episode about this camp.... (Camp "Drink Beer as if it was water and you were in the desert") :D

a few of my buds are going to hatfield mccoy next weekend. I will report back with their experience sometime next week. I decided not to go since I have a chance to make some cash that weekend. anyway, they will be staying at the devil anse campground.

well.........they just got back. they stopped in here to brag about how much fun they had. they rented a about a 26' ryder truck to haul the quads & use as a camper. they stayed at the devil anse campground. they claimed the trails were good, and the trail maps were very helpful. they said everyone at the campground was cool and they had a great time.

And I lost a freakin' bet that I'll explain now

I have to set my quad up in the following manner for the West Virginia ride to fulfill my part of the bet:

Bright Pink powdercoated frame

Replace stock plastic with light blue plastic with polka dots

ridin' gear = clown suit with big f'n shoes

and to top it off,
6-10 helium balloons have to be tied to my grab bar at all times even while going off jumps.

I just got back today from devil anse a week of ridin..it was nice they just opened up 40 miles of new trails at bearwallow. WE went off the map and found some fun jeep trails and stuff. old brady even went ridin with us and he gave me an autographed 1st year shirt. and a carved key chain...we drove to rockhouse one day those are the nicest in there in my opinion. Word of advise have strong tires theres a lot of rocks. When we went to rockhouse we drove into a town called gilbert filled up at the gas station and got a subway..lemme tell ya theres some nice lookin girls over at gilbert. On the last day the two things brady said to me was finish school and keep your dick in your pants until you do.lol i thought that was funny. I really encourage you goin to devil anse and trailer out top the other places and ride ride out of the campground when you wanna ride at bearwallow. There are also 3 or 4 little cabins you can rent up at the top of the hill really nice. Have fun i know i did!!!!
