What brands make grip glue? Im using the scott stuff and cant get it to work for nothing it lasts a couple races and thats it then it wears off. specially if it gets wet. Ive tried using wire but would rather have working glue also instead of relying on the wire.

Honda makes grip glue that sticks real good. If you are using Renthal grips that could be your problem. They claim you need to use their glue due to the compound, but I use the honda stuff on them and those dont come loose at all!! Ive had 6 races on the grips I am running and they are still as tight as when I first put them on! Get the Honda grip glue, they usually have it at all the dealerships...

ive used a couple kinds of grip glue and have had grips come off in wet/muddy conditions. i started using friction tape instead and have had no problems the last two years.

wrap the bar in friction tape, put a little gas on it to get it wet and slide the grip on. give it a day to dry and it'll stick till you cut it off.

i jsut really dont think that hot water will make them stick to a handle bar because when it shrinks it will go back to the same size

The Honda grip glue is actually 3M Weatherstrip adheasive. You can get it at any place that sells 3M products like Napa. It comes in a tube that is 4 times the size of the Honda tube for the exact same price. This stuff works! I don't even have to use saftey wire and my grips have never moved.

I just used the honda grip glue and it works good. Another thing you can use is a 3m spray adheisive (spl?). I've done both and they work the same. The spray seems to be a little cleaner though.

I don't waste money buying adhesive. Just spray some spray paint in the grips and slide em on the bars. The spray paint will dry and mine have never moved. Try it!

That's good info. That'll save a few bucks. Thanks Jeff:devil:

I have Tag grips on Tag bars w/Scott glue.Mine are going on 2 months without moving.I think the trick is in your preparation.I spray parts cleaner on both bar and inside grip, glue, and ride the next day.But everything has gotta be clean.

Good point drthrottle but be carefull, some grips will disolve with brake cleaner.

I used Scott and Renthal glues and they both eventually ended up slipping. I ride in rain, mud, stream crossings, u name it so it's pretty hard on the glue. The latest thing that I'm on right now is clear spray paint/safety wire combo. I just rode 2 weekends ago where is rained both Sat and Sun and they are still holding up well. I'll let the group know if this combo fails....

www.golfsmith.com Get the golf club grip tape, and a bottle of the grip solvent. I wear through the grips before they move on me. Then when its time to replace the grips, just cut them off, leaving the tape in place. Wet the tape again, and slide the grips back on...about 15 minutes and your ready to roll.

if you ride in dry this is good... but if u ride in wet stuff they wil lslide off, i tried it.

I use 3m spray adhesive.. i found it in the garage and used it, jsut spray some in the grip and it sticks for ever, even in the mud and wet crud.

I used to use wd40 too, when it dries it gets tacky.. but when he gets hot they slip...
ps: renthal bars and ..... smith grips
