A real brain teasing game!

this game seems really hard to do at first and took me over an hour to finally figure it out but once you figure it out youll feel stupid for it taking you so long, but please if you do figure out how to do it dont post how to in this thread.If you wanna know how to do it use the pm's to ask how and tell how.

Woo Hoo!! I figured it out! Took me a very good, and long 30 fusterating minutes to figure out but I did. Kidna funny!

It's all in the name of the game. I had it in about 6 minutes.

Here's a little tip. The answer will always be an even number, or it could be zero.

i read a thing on it that said, the smarter you are, the longer it will take to figure it out...

While some students would solve the problem right away, others would struggle all semester. It had taken Dr. Duke well over a year himself, and he would always explain that the smarter you were, the longer it took to figure it out.

It's not "the smarter you are, the longer it will take to figure it out" In some cases that's true, in many it is not. The game actually has little to do with intelligence, and everything to do with perception.

According to the rules of the game, I can tell you that the name of the game is significant.

Well, it does kinda make sense. A "smart" person is going to try to find a mathematical pattern in the numbers. And the pattern is there, but it does not follow a normal "pattern", and thus it will take much longer to deduce.

A "not so smart" person isn't going to bother with the mathematical pattern, and thus is much more likely to stumble across the answer quickly.

LMAO, Nicole smacked me on the arm when I showed her this... she got it in 2-3min, it took me a good 30-40 min... :D

I picked it up really quick, but I'll admit, I got a little help.

People know that I like little brain-teasers, so this was brought to me by a couple friends who wanted to laugh at me. They figured it would take me forever to figure out because of the "smarter you are, the longer it will take you to figure it out". :rolleyes:

However, they were stupid, because while I am working on the puzzle, they are talking about it. While they were not giving me the direct answers, the DID give me clues, such as "it's not about intelligence, it's more about perception". From that comment, I figured out right away that I shouldn't be looking for a pattern in the numbers. They expected me to fret over 45mins or so. They were pretty mad when I figured it out faster than any of them did. :blah:

Do a web search for "Petals around the Rose" You'll find lots of links to the game, and possibly many sites that spoil the secret.

if i had not read thru the thread for clues it would have taken me forever. i was trying to make a pattern the add 2 to the first number and then subtract 4 from the next approach

the thing that gets me is that it is less of a brain teaser and more of a lack of directions. i was looking for number after the pattern, the number before, what the hell does a rose and petals have to do with dice? what the hell is it asking? if it always had a 5 in it, it might be easier to figure out.
