I have a hinson basket and spraks 8-plate clutch setup in my bike now, but I came across a good deal on an entire hison assembly. I got the basket, inner hub, pressure plate, and clutches. How much of a difference would this be from what I have right now?

I have a couple of those setups but havent rode either one yet. I can let you know in a day or too though.

I doubt it will be much diffrent than what you have, I think there mostly made to last longer.

is there really a noticable diffrance with diffrant clutches, assuming there both in good condition

If you have a 8 plate over the stocker you will notice it grabs a lot harder. And gets the power to the ground better.

It has less slipage and you can also feel it grab better.

Craig what kind of plates do you have with yours? the first hinson setup i bought the guy said to use 400ex fibers amd 250r steels. The second one i got the guy said to use 250r everything.

I rode with second monday, had the clutch all the way adjusted as far as it could and still wouldnt fully disengage. And was slipping some. Checked the plates and the steels were pretty blue, but the fibers looked good.

I'm thinking maybe the full 250r setup doesnt fit tight enough? I'm going to pick up my other clutch plates tommorow and see if there is any diffrence in thickness.

And when I install my othere plates i'll see how good the clutch really grips.

I'm pretty sure most 8 plate kits for the 400ex use, 300ex steels and 250R fibers..

It's a VERY nice improvement over stock.. The difference is felt immediatly..

Thats true for the ones made for the stock equipment. But I keep hearing diffrent when you use the hinson basket hub and pressure plate setup.

Sickmojave, you can use that one the stock basket. Wouldnt hurt to get some heavy duty springs too.

GT Thunder said that they use 400EX fibers (OEM Honda) but he did not say what the steels were, just that they were thinner than the 400EX steels. Hope that helps...

That must be why laz machines the inner hubs. The 250r fibers are thinner then 400ex.

When I installed my 400ex fibers i didnt have anymore slipping The 250r fibers didnt have enough thickness. With my hinson setup. The hinson setup seems to have a smooth clutch pull too since i have used it more now.
