View Full Version : best 400ex exhaust

im looking to buy a new pipe and was wondering what kind of pipe has the best power curve. right now i have a big gun full system and i dont like the top end. the bottom end is alright but i am looking for something that has a good curve from the bottom all the way to the rev limiter

Sparks, or TC all the way. Beyond that, the CT or the LRD are also great. Those are the best 4 full systems for the 400 PERIOD. If you dont have motor work done, the Sparks might be a bit soft on the bottom due to the large headpipe made for increased exhaust volume. The TC uses the stock headpipe with like 5 inches sawed off the end. This would be a good pipe for you since it retains the great torque of the stock pipe but revs out great and has a BIG midrange hit. The LRD would probably be a great choice for you since it uses a stepped headpipe design that progressively gets bigger. This retains alot of the bottom power but allows the pipe to rev to the moon as well. I race with a couple guys with the LRD and they work great. The CT is similar, but uses the dreaded disc design in the rear which I absolutely HATE. Any of these pipes would be great for you but it really boils down to what type of power you are looking for.

i love my sparks its awsome and sounds so sweet. the only thing i would consider getting over a sparks is TC's pipe but it will be a while before i decided to try it out.

those things get soo doctored up by the companies. Show me a dybo report on the same machine on the same dyno. then ill believe. but thats jmo.

GT Thunder are good guys out there... I doubt that they doctor THEIR dynos if thats where your Hetrick was dynoed at. I got my bike dynoed there with no strings attached. I dont doubt that their are some other companies who doctor their dynos but I dont think GT is one of them. I must say that I am skeptical that the Hetrick Pipe beat a Sparks or a TC though like you said. If Hetrick was such a great pipe then why are you one of the only people Ive ever heard of running it? Other than you, the ONLY people Ive seen or heard of running it are the guys on the Hetrick team, but that is to be expected. I think youre just feeling the results of your stroker motor work and not the pipe, but I want to see that dyno.

I have the TC pipe and like it a lot. I want to get the full HMF though. I mostly want the HMF so I can make it quieter if need be. If sound is no issue, the TC is awesome.

I have the LRD full exhaust..... Sounds great.... But I wouldnt buy it if your doing alot of riding around any houses that dont like sum loud pipes. Dont lose to much low end power but you pick up alot in mid to top and revs to the moon.... Just make shure u get a k and n filter, and jet your carb.
