How does the 250ex perform in the sand for those of you that have them. Just bought my wife one (entery level rider) and was just wondering if it is worth it. Of course she isnt gonna be blasting up a 200 ft. dune, but with paddles I was thinking she would get around all right with the little quad.

My buddy has a 250ex that we like to take out and dink around on. I'm 150lbs and it does alright with me on it. With a little body english and as much speed as possible it will climb quite a few hills, just very slow.

I have taken my daughters 250ex up test hill in silver lake MI. I dont know about putting paddles on it, we use stock tires on the dunes. My son started out on the 250ex and after one season on the dunes he went right into a 400ex. so when you are ready to sell your 250ex, please let me know I know someone that is looking for one.:D

well 250 EX's aren't that powerful so i don't know how it made it up those hills with stock tires:eek:

I've done it and have taught 4 kids how to get up test hill on a 250ex. Get a running start and make sure you down shift at the correct time towards the top. But I have been there when the sand was really mushy and 400ex's took a little finesse to make it. That was a time the 250ex had trouble getting up test.:D

Ya ill keep you in mind if my wife wants to sell it but i think she will be happy with it for a few years. Just bought paddles for her 250 and my 450r today, made reservations at jellystone campground at silver lake on july 6-7. Now all i gotta do is wait and drool on the new rubber.

I've got a Recon on sand sharks and it does fine out in Buttercup. I am running 20" paddles for a little extra low end power & also have an fmf slip on & jet kit. :)

A few weeks ago I was out at Dumont and if you guys know, they have some pretty steep hills! There was a camp next to us we met up with out in the sand and they had 3 kids all with brand new 250's. They motored up and down and around all kinds of dunes, and we formed a huge train! None of them were running paddles either.. I don't run my paddles on the EX anymore cuz I got the 450r to put them on, but I can make it up basically anything on stock tires, even with a passenger. I think I actually like it better without paddles.. I get a little bit more slip and not so much traction to bog me down when I had my sand skates on it.

try the stock first then try the paddles the paddles on the 250 wont be the same as on the 400. ya need some torque to spin
unless it gets windy before you get there expect it to be rutted up from the weekend use.

play safe
