i was wondering if in the 1/8 mile drag about how many bike lengths a 400ex would be behind 416 with a cam? (approximately, same weight.):blah thanx

It depends on the cam. Assuming that nothing has been done to the cammed ex (no pipe, no rejet, etc) & rider skill & weight are equal, I'd say the caqmmed ex would win by about 4 bike lengths.

I can give some insight. My friend and I both had similar mods. As in, slip-on pipes and jetting. We used to run pretty much side by side when drag racing before. After I added an XR cam (still using the stock piston) I was able to beat him by about 15 bike lengths at the top of 5th gear. That was from a standing start until I tapped out in 5th. Now with a 416 kit as well, I would reckon probably a few more bike lengths would be added.
