can anyone help me with deciding on which kind of handlebars to get for my 450R?

i had thought about some TAG T2's with a CR HIGH bend, but i just don't know what they look like or if that is really what i want. want i good bend for mx racing and some that are strong, bc i have already bent my stocks several times. i have also looked at others and i am open to anything.

thanks, chris

I found this website online that offeres a CR mid bend and replicates a lot of companies stuff at a discount stuff but makes it a lot stronger. Those fatbars they make, if u brake those, ur takin a trip to the hospital in a chopper.

There expensive but if I didnt have a GPR I would get the handle bars from FAST with the dampning system built in. I know a few people who have them and swear by them.

if you think your just gonna keep bending them then stick with the stocks or equal. there only 25$ if you bend a set of tags your out 70$ . i swear by the stocks because i will try just about anything which mean i wreck alot. but if you dont wreck then by all means get you a good set.

I really like my Kevin Windham bend Pro Tapers with the 2 inch Rox handle bar risers. You can get the risers at www.roxspeedfx.com

You like those ROX risers!?!?!

I put a set on my 416, because the dumbasses at roll design sent me the wrong stem. I ordered a +1 and made it very clear to the guy that i wanted a +1. The stem gets here, i put it on and it feels like **** with the CR high bends, WAY too low. So I take a look at the box the stem came in and the word "standard" was marked out and it said "+1":grr:  :o . So I ordered the ROX system and my first impression was what a piece of ****! There was play in the steering, and they are very unstable. So now im in a huge mess, unless i want to dish out the dough for a GPR system which im going to have to do.

I was also thinking about this system, because i already have a trail tech computer on the 416, but those bars look REALLY high.

I've ran alot of different handlebars...

Factory 909
Renthal
Oneal
Tag X-5
Moose
Tag T-2

Really nothing compared to the Tag T-2's, Fat bars just feel so much more comfortable and I have yet to bend them. They are Very strong.

I have always wanted to try those FASST handlebars, but for $300:eek2:

btw...CR high bend is my favorite so far..

True - my hubby has had his Tag 2's on his YZ250, 2 400ex's and his banshee now they are on his 450R and he has also had to stems bent but the tags still look brand new they are the Seth Enslow bend to me they are the same feel as my T2 cr high.

id rather have a set of $75 handlebars bend then a $200 stem...somethings gotta bend if its your frame, steering stem, or handlebars....id rather replace the cheapest

I agree, and dont let people on the net make you think theres something magical about these bars, they will bend!

anything will bend if you crash hard enough, but if you bend these bars then you will probably be more worried about how to pay your hospital bill!

I also found that with my T2's it decreased the vibration quite a bit especially on my 400ex

is there a reason for low bars on mx track or is it just preference?

I have the tag t2 450r bend, I like them really well so far.

it all depends on the rider, how high the bars should be. and for mx i run a +1 +1steering stem on my r. i tried low bars and didn't like it at all. so you cannot say that nobody should have a low set of bars for mx!

sparky450AR,

Your computer will bolt on and the bars come in low/med/high bend - medium is equal to stock height for the 450.

thanks alot for all the replys and comments. they have really helped me out alot on seeing what will be best for me. i am only 5'8" so i guess a tag t2 cr low bend would probably best fit me, then.

thanks alot guys! chris

oh and this weekend a finished 3rd and 5th in our local mx races! i guess 5th will do, i just didn't have any more left in me for the last race.:o

sparky450AR,

We do not have a picture of the bars on a TRX450 in Medium Bend. We run high bend on our 450's.

Here is a picture of our bars in medium bend:

Medium Bend (www.trailtech.net/images/fatbar/xbar_lg.jpg)

We also make a low sweep (40mm) bend that we use mainly for motorcycles and a Double High Bend that we use for ATV GNCC.

If you get a set of our bar/clamp combinations (from one of our dealers) and you are not happy with the bend we will dial it in to match your needs or refund your money.

I am sure I can get a bracket that works with the LSR anti vibe clamp to mount HID lights. I could be wrong, but hard to believe there is not a way to do it. My friend is a Trailtech dealer and their stuff is getting nicer all the time though......Jim

It is, i had there halogen lights on my old 330ex....they were always the brightest between the whole group of quads. I cant wait for the HID's, and they are gonna look really good when i have the "new style" quadtech hood mounted with a set of HID's:devil:

hey trailtech, One question that i've got is... are the high polished bars as strong as the regular heat treated ones because it says that the high polished bars are not heat treated to help keep their luster. So, are the high polish bars as strong as the regular ones?
Thanks

trailtech
07-08-2004, 09:53 AM
450R_lover,

The high polish bars are not as strong as the heat treated bars. If you roll the quad on a regular basis, get the heat treated bars.

The heat treated bars are still polished but the alloy and heat treatment prevents the finish from reaching a full gloss.

If get the bars and are not 100% satisfied (color, bend, quality), we will exchange or refund your money.
