Went out for a ride yesterday and the bike started to billow blue smoke out. We were several miles from the trucks so I had to keep riding it. It just started to get worse and worse as the ride wore on. The first thing I am thinking is a ring broke or something. Oil is all over the discs on my pipe as well.

After getting it home I tore the motor down and everything seemed fine as far as the piston and rings were. Somehow oil (and a lot of it) is making its way into the combustion chamber. The bike has great compression, etc and this just came out of the clear blue. The head gaskets are fine as well.

I am thinking a valve seal may have let go, but I am not positive. Any ideas????

I would say probably the valve guide seals got hot and went bad.

I'd agree w/ wyndzer, it's got to be the valve seals.

I'm guessing that's why Terry Marcum suggests viton seals when we all do our rebuilds...just for this reason,,stockers can't hold up, and I beleive,,stock honda seals run ya like $25 and the vitons are $10.
