Remove Air Box lid, Remove Choke, Remove baffle. Chut out the inards of your muffler, That would help most.

getting a new 400ex $4000

5 gallons gas $10

riding membership $50

racking yourself when you take off the seat to get more power

priceless

I usually just add a few stickers. Once the quad is completely clean, add a few race style stickers (ebay or your local dealer) and you'll be impressed at the power increase.

Can you say placebo? I could be wrong though, depending on how loose it was.

if the throttle lever has a bunch of slack in it, the carb won't open up fully. this will really really slow you down. you can gain 5mph's on top end when going from not adjusted to adjusted. this adjustment will actually give you more power than a pipe, filter, jet, etc. if it isn't adjusted properly.

I think that will only get you to top speed faster, not technically gain power. It helps though, about as much as running the quad with no seat. That is the ideal mod there!
