well i would just like to start off by saying that i really love my 450R. it is just freakin awesome!

anyway, i was just wondering the best way to take off the front fenders? i am not really sure about how to get the rivets out without tearing up my plasitc. i had thought about just cutting them but i like the no fender look with the 450R and i would really like to keep my fenders like they are just take them off. help would be greatly appreciated.

also this is a great forum. i have found so much information on the 450R here it is crazy. just the other day i set my shocks like some had said to do, so they would handle better and set lower. and it did, i handles great and it lands better off of jumps.

thansk alot, chris:cool:

hose rivets are a PITA...to get them off permanately which is the only way you drill them out with a large drill bit (thats what I did anyway).. you can then unscrew the rest of it & pull them off & reattach them later...heres mine with my fenders off...it looks like a four wheeled crotchrocket  http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid118/pe3e3a7697e484c07685414623c8fe671/f891d1a8.jpg

I removed the entire fender assy and the used a dremel to cut through the rivets head.

thanks alot guys! i will see what i can do tomorrow.

oh and yeah, crotchrocket is right! did you listen to the motor rev out with the baffle in, it really does sound like a crotchrocket. i mean while you are riding it.

YES drill them, let the bit cut with little presure and they will come right out

dont use a big drill bit (no wider than the rivet itself) you dont want bigger holes in the plastic than they already are

Jumbo,

if you drilled them out.........then how iwll you be able to re-attach your fenders? or is that not the plan?

also, I see you have Works shocks on your R, do you think they handle better? I think the stock suspension is pretty much amazing. My Cannondale had high dollar ohlins, and this stuff works much better.

you can drill them out and put another rivet back in there....but you need to use a bit that will go through the center of it not any bigger otherwise you will have a bigger hole.

i just tapped the one rivet out from the middle & the rest of it fell apart...my fenders reattach fine
