On the way home tonight, we came upon 3 or 4 cars stopped at what at first appeared a single car accident. We pulled up and asked the officer if we could help in any way and he said no, there wasnt anything anyone could do. Thats when we noticed a small 50cc dirtbike hung up under the rear of the car that was down in the ditch:(

no clue who the kid was yet....

peace fellow rider:(

That's so sad. We just had a 12 year old boy killed here about a mile away from my house. He was riding one of those small, gas-powered scooters (but not like a Go-Ped). He crossed an intersection without stopping and a girl ran him over. The girl wound up being a neighbor just a few houses down from the little boy and to make the story worse, the stepfather of the kid was in his car behind the girl that hit him. He witnessed the whole thing:(

Hopefully tragic events like these make others think twice about riding on or near the road.

thats the million dollar question in my book.

my wife said she had seen that bike riden by a kid that is in my sons class, so that would make him about 10 or 11 years old. we havent told him about it yet, until we get the paper and can verify his name.

the road that this accident happened on is a main road (main for around here) and has lines painted so its illegal to operate a bike or other orv on it.

wow thats really sad Pappy, Ide lay it on your son easy because you dont want to scare the life out of him if you tell him.

I knew a kid years ago that got hit while riding. He was crossing the street at an intersection, and a car ran the stop sign and hit him doing about 40mph. He was hit so hard it knocked the socks off his feet. He lived, no brain damage because he was wearing a helmet, but he was in a full body cast for quite some time. He was 11 yrs old.

the kid was dead on the scene. he was 14 years old:( im glad it wasnt a younger kid but it still sucks. the police were there until 11pm investigating the accident....something doesnt sound right about it to me. foul play could be involved:grr:

2001, 3 miles away a guy crosses an intersection on a raptor and gets paralyzed from the neck down :(

thats why you dont cross at intersections on main roads. stay on the back roads and always pay attention to your surroundings. one time i was on my dirtbike going to my neighbours house and i went to turn into his driveway and a huge black truck is laying on the horn and i quickly went the other way. now i ALWAYS look back before i turn. dont let experienced things keep you from knowing what you gotta do to stay safe.
