what is this piece and what does it do

what is that little black piece on the 400ex that is in between the clutch perch and parking brake. it has wires going to it. i was going to put a new clutch perch on the 400ex and didnt know what to do about the little black box.

Take the wires out and splice them together, It lets you start in gear.

By connecting the wires together it lets you start up in gear with the clutch engaged. Comes in very handy sometimes. Also is a must if you want to run any aftermarket lever & perches.
