and my rear tire lug nut got loose and i tightened it and it got loose again.
i know i gotta replace my ft sprocket but i just hope my carrier is not messed up or anything? is there any way to check it?
my friend jacked up the rear and shook the rear and i guess it clicked a little bit but i aint sure

your teeth may have sumthin to do with
your carrier shouldn't be messed up at all
that click noise could of been the barings in there so if you pull out the carrier check the bearings too

you prob. need a new chain & new sprockets.......go with any Oring chain...xring is a waste of money & just sounds cooler

ya i will get a new o ring chain and a 13 tooth ft sproket(14 is stock right?)
and when i jack up my rear end and wiggle my rear tires and kinda shakes a litle u think that might be my carrier bearin?

PS should i get an rear spocket with it so the new chain dont wear it out?

Get bolth a new front and rear sprocket, and a chain. If I was you, I would get some new axle bearings and dust seals, because it sounds to me like they are going out. My chain always comes loose when they are going out. Just my $.02

if your axle is wiggling then your beatrings are going out & this causes the bearing carrier to move forwards & loosen up your chain...fix your bearings first then order the chains if it still is loosening....you can get the bearings & dust seals off ebay for a very good price around $25 shipped

alright since my chainget loose every 30 mins and stuff and my axle might be a little wiggly I am going to get axle bearings and dust seals but not a new carrier right?

06-09-2004, 08:17 PM
no..i am %99 sure your carrier is fine...as long as you dont ride it anymore...just go on ebay & type in "400ex axle bearings" & youll see the right stuff to get

Your carrier will have to be replaced. Get a twin-row burgard bearing carrier if that is the case. Your axle might have some pretty nasty grooves in it, if thats the case you may want to consider a new one.

im sorry guys
no my tire was loose when i wiggled it on the ground so i thought it was my axle but it wasnt
well i took it all apart and everthing looks alright i cleaned it all
the bearings are a little hard to move, probably not a big deal but ima going to replace them anyway and the dust seals
anyone know how to take the bearings out along with the seal?

well maybe its just me but u guys overlooked a huge problem. Make sure your bolts in the end of the swingarm are tight if not they would cause the carrier to loosen.

IT might possibly be the swingarm bearings as well, or a broke swingarm bolt?

i had the same problem early this race season, Check to make sure you bearings are all good, lift the quad and wigle the rear end look for movement anywhere. I think most of my problem was the axle locknut, it's stock and won't stay tight anymore. it would make the axle move and give it enough play to through the chain. Also check the links in your chain, that clicking noise may be the rollers that are wore out or somethin....
