For the $500 range, i say laeger. they have proven themselves and are great quality.

Another good one for that range is houser. many people on this forum have them and will stand behind them 100%

i think some one said houser stopped making plus 2 plus 1s im not for sure,,, i would def. go with laeger

400mxer, are you still waiting on those shocks and a arms?

03-17-2002, 06:42 PM
get denton a-arms. i seen them at the track today and there beefy as fudge. the 500 dollars for +2 +1

400MXer
03-17-2002, 06:43 PM
yes......i've been waiting since the begining of jan.

my motor isn't here yet either.....everytime i call him...he say's "it's boxed up ready to go, you'll have it in two days"....then two days later........it's not their. This motor better haul ***** because i'm getting tired of his $hit.

Nausty

I think somone said they stopped selling the +2 +1 because it pushed to much in the corners:huh

03-17-2002, 07:28 PM
400MXer, you still haven`t got your Motor? Man I remember Three Weeks ago you said it was Shipped. This is just like My Brother`s Motor. Everytime we would Call he said it would be another 3 Weeks or so. After Six Months we got it. How are your Shocks Coming? Have you Called Baldwin Lately? Now I know why everybody is starting to get Elka. The Wait for PEP is Crazy.

For the A-Arms I would go with +2 Laeger`s. They are $578, but Worth the Extra Money. You don`t need +1 Forward on the 400EX. You get a +1-1/4 Swingarm instead.

400MXer
03-17-2002, 08:09 PM
Yeah, all i have to say is this motor better be the best thing since sliced bread...because i'm really starting to get mad.

as for the a arms and shox....i'm gonna call baldwin this week and see how they are coming along. If they move the dates back any further, i'm gonna miss the indoor race at the pontiac silverdome. i've already missed two races that i really wanted to go to.

I got +2 because of that exact reason...i'm getting a +1 1/4 swingarm. If your doing MotoX, i almost thing that +1forward a arms and +1 1/4 swingarm would be too long...harder to corner..When i talked to baldwin, he told me that the hot setup with 400's was +2 a arms and +1 1/4 swingarm...so that's what i'm going with.

I have heard bad things about the Leager's ball joints on the $550 dollar a arms. But the t-pin front end is good but very exspensive. For the $500 range I would say to go with either Hosuer or the Denton a arms my friend has them and they are really oversized.

03-17-2002, 09:08 PM
yeah. the dentons are crazy. it's like 1 in tubing on the a-arms

ChadEXer
03-18-2002, 07:33 AM
Houser,,Houser,,,Houser.
Warriorman, If TC plays that ***** with my motor i will call him and tell him to ship it to somebody else. he told me about six weeks, and I am VERY impatient. SHUT UP CHAD!! Good things come to those who wait.

400MXer, My Brother was Happy he Waited. If Bud doesn`t have it Shipped or ready to Ship he should just tell you that. That`s the problem we had with TC. He would tell us it`s Shipped and then my Dad called two weeks later and he needed to Polish it still. If TC just would have told us he wasn`t done it would of been ok. Hopefully other Guys don`t have this Problem.

Tell Baldwin to Hurry Up. Gabe`s still Waiting for his ZPS too. I`m not sure when he ordered his. Let`s hope you get them for Red Bud.

As for the A-Arms, I don`t know why Guys want +1 Forward A-Arms. Most of the Guys just run +2 Wide. Lonestar and Laeger tell you to go with +2 Wide A-Arms and +1-1/4 Swingarm.

400exRacerX, I don`t know who you heard that from. I have never heard anything Bad about Laeger.

Chad, I hope TC doesn`t do that to you. It will take some Time.

Go with Denton, Laeger, or Houser. You will be Happy.

03-18-2002, 06:30 PM
Houser has the best product for the money if you ask me. thats why I chose Houser. Warriorman you said TC polished your brothers engine?? What did it look like when you got it. Was it all shiny?? i would like to get mine polished too. Or I was thinking about just heat painting it grey

03-18-2002, 07:03 PM
what colors do they come in. Do they come chrome or powdercoat. If they do how much extra. Does anybody have the denton arm.

ChadEXer
03-18-2002, 07:27 PM
You can get the Houser a-arms from Terry Marcum for $475 right in your door. Thats powdercoated. you cant beat that!!

400MXer
03-18-2002, 08:04 PM
Actually i heard a lot about the laeger ball joints too. They fixed the problem though. but the price raised too. Mine were 600 and something. but i have a freind with the old ball joints and he hasn't had a problem yet.

Dave400ex
03-18-2002, 08:08 PM
Chad, TC Polished My Brothers Cylinder. Not the Actual Motor. He did have it Painted though. The Guy that put the Motor together had nothing to do so he Painted it. The Motor looks very Nice.

Those Denton A-Arms sound very Nice. I`m sure you can get Chrome. Most places will charge extra for Chrome. I agree with Chad. Houser has to be the Best in the $500 Range. You can even get them for $475 from Marcum`s.

You have heard about the Ball Joints too 400MXer? I have never heard anything about it. I hope My Brother doesn`t have any Problems. I thought your A-Arms were more for the Chrome Top Arms?

Sick0
03-18-2002, 08:19 PM
What makes the housers better then the denton. Will i get more travel with these a-arms or a smoother ride.

400MXer
03-18-2002, 08:33 PM
well mine were 700and something with the chrome tops....the regular ones are 600something.

i'll try to find the exact prices.

i'm sure your bro won't have problems, my buddy has had his laeger arms on his 400 for two years and hasn't had a prob. with the ball joints yet...and he races MX.

Dave400ex
03-18-2002, 08:36 PM
Thanks for getting the Prices. My Brother got his Last August. I think they will be Ok. Remember, Lead the Rest, Don`t be Second Best.

03-18-2002, 08:59 PM
i would just get the dentons if i was you. they look much beefier than stockers and they have a good price.

03-19-2002, 07:49 AM
houser racings arms also have an extra support tube on the inside by the frame,,there's also very beefy and the tie rods are about as big as a cigar,,houser products are nice..here's a close up of mine,,you'll see the extra tube behind the shock..you won't be disappointed with houser..

ChadEXer
03-19-2002, 07:52 AM
I would get the Houser if I was you. Much beefier and even a better price than the Dentons:D man Im just messin with ya. Its your choice. get what ya want

03-19-2002, 07:55 AM
What is that clamped to your frame up there????

03-19-2002, 09:05 AM
That's how I shoot the bad guys when I'm playin cops and robbers,,It's a 44 mag,,with a string goin from the trigger to my handlebars......:D

Actually that's a muscle steering dampner...:blah

ChadEXer
03-19-2002, 09:44 AM
One more thing Rico. What did you do to keep the zip ties for the brake lines from rubbing the arms??

03-19-2002, 09:57 AM
I didn't use anything..:(

ChadEXer
03-19-2002, 10:06 AM
Uh oh:( You think it will take the powdercoating off??

03-19-2002, 10:39 AM
the dentons look much beefier than the housers

cdalejef
03-19-2002, 11:50 AM
Here is a little trick I use to keep the brake lines off the arms. Take a ziptie and a piece of fuel tubing that the ziptie will just fit through and cut it about 1/4" long. Run the Zip tie through the tubing till its about 1/2" away from the female end. Run the ziptie around the upper arm then through the piece of tubing again. Now run the ziptie around the brake line and zip it together. One per arm is plenty.
It should look like a loop around the arm and a loop around the brake line with a piece of fuel tubing in the middle. I know this is hard to picture, for anyone interested I can send you a picture tomorrow.

ChadEXer
03-19-2002, 12:09 PM
I see exactly what your saying to do. I seen this on a website where a guy had done that but the tubing he used was clear. That works good. Thats what Ill do
Thanks Jeff

Man those are nice LSR a arms, I wish I had the money for them:grr . I guess I'll have to settle with Houser or Denton.

cdalejef
03-19-2002, 01:59 PM
Yep, thats what I was talking about! I used clear too.
400exRacerX, don't say you settle for Houser, they are great arms just as good as Lonestar or Roll Design in my opinion. I had Lobo II's on my last quad and now I have Houser long travels, I thing they are just as good as the Lobo's were.

ChadEXer

Most of the A-Arms are the Same. It`s your Choice. I would go with Houser or Laeger for mine though.

Rico, How do you like the Muscle Dampner?

My Brother did that Zip Tie thing on his A-Arms. They look Nice. That`s a Good Tip.

I would not Buy Lonestar A-Arms. They are Way to Expensive. Just get Laeger or Houser.

ChadEXer
03-19-2002, 03:48 PM
When I ordered my Housers from Marcums I just asked him to have Houser send them plain and i will get them powdercoated that way i know it will match everything else I powdercoat!!

Hey Jeff. I just went to your website and noticed that you extend stock swingarms. I didnt know you did this but I sent mine off to Mac Racing Fri to have mine extended. How long do you reccomend extending it?? I do a lot of drag racing but I want to keep it fun for occassional play riding. How long do you think I need to go???
Thanks,
Chad

cdalejef
03-19-2002, 04:09 PM
Since you play ride as well as dragrace, I would go with a 2" extension. If you were doing nothing but drag racing and had lots of motor then I would go 4" extension.

Dave400ex
03-19-2002, 04:58 PM
Chad, Why did you go with a Extension instead of a New Swingarm?

ChadEXer
03-20-2002, 08:06 AM
Ill definatley have lots of motor!! 505!! I talked to a lot of people about extending the stock swingarm and everybody I talked to say there has never been a problem doing it. I mostly drag race anyway so I wont be putting a lot of stress on it. I had it done for $130. Thats a great deal. This guy says he does about 3 a week. He said he has done about 75 and he hasnt had any come back yet. He!! if it breaks Ill just get me a new one:D I sent them a note to do +2 but i was just wanting to make sure I wouldnt regret it. Thanks Jeff!!
I got my oil cooler kit ordered from FST. $110 plus shipping. Im getting a GREAT deal from Terry on a Pingrys oil tank but I cant tell anyone. He is hooking me up!! He!! Ive spent over $1200 with him recently and plan to spen a lot more!!!! My Sidewinder chain & sprocket was $219.96 after shipping and a can of lube. thats not cheap but i think it will be worth it.
I called TC yesterday. He said I will have to keep the stock header and cut it. I will probably send my header off to be Jet-Hot coated or something like that.

I was just wondering if the Housers were just as shiny and where can I get my frame powercoated to look just like the houser a arms(so they dont clash)?

ChadEXer
03-20-2002, 01:42 PM
Thats why i ordered my housers plain. So i could get it all custom powdercoated at the same place and it will all match

Honda Guy
03-20-2002, 01:50 PM
how much did it cost you

03-20-2002, 01:51 PM
It's best to have all the parts powdercoated by the same person/business,,cuz there is a good chance they won't match up..:(

ChadEXer
03-20-2002, 02:00 PM
Well im getting everything powdercoated, frame and subframe, steering stem, alum airbox, case saver, motor mounts, hubs, brake calipers and more. This place is going to do it all for $150-170. They have EVERY color in stock. Even the trick custom colors and sparkles. the other place in town wanted $450 to do it all. Chris Waters said $380. This place can do it so cheap because thats all they do is powdercoat for one huge company and do a lot at the same time. my friend just got his back from them yesterday and they did an awesome job. Very high quality work. they even plug all the bolt holes so they dont have to be re tapped!

My a arms will be here on friday. I called baldwin today to ask how everything is coming and he asked if i just wanted him to send me my a arms now and i said OK....but i have another 2 weeks or so to wait for my shocks. I told him i NEEDED them by april14, and he said that he would bust his but to get them to me.

and my motor is FINALLY being shipped. I called him the other day and he was just finishing boring my cylinder...i think he has been mixing motors up and kept thinking mine was done, but it was another motor.

Just get everything PowderCoated my the Same Guy and it will Match. I want this Setup: Red Frame, Chrome SubFrame, Chrome Steering Stem, Gray Hammertone Bottom A-Arms, Chrome Top A-Arms, Gray Hammertone Swingarm. I think that`s all. Then I would get Dark Blue Plastic and put Nac`s Graphics on them. Sweet.

Warriorman that is the same thing im doing only i dont know if i want red a-arms or gray i will probly go with gray to. Im gettin my sub frame oil tank and some more powdercoated prism black or whatever it is like Rico has. So that means we will have the almost same setup. American star for like 480.00
Eyeball engineering a-arms 565.00
JD performance a-arms 445.00
FSD motorsports 600.00
burgard a-arms 524.99
Magnum A-arms 499.99
Has anybody ever heard of these a-arms. Are they good or are they junk. Theres is no way I would buy one of these a-arms but I was just wondering.
I think I'm going to buy the DENTON a-arms. I don't know though I like the houser also.
Would you buy an A-arms made by someone called eyeballs engineering.

03-21-2002, 09:04 PM
