Hi, we plan to go to silver lake sand dunes in the next weeks, i want to have some feedback of this place because its a 12 hours ride for us, i also heard of some sound tests and spark arrestor things.....

I have an lrd full exhaust on my 250r and my buddy have a pretty loud fmf pipe on his crf450, will it be ok? i really dont want to have any trouble getting in!

Its our first dune trip and i need some infos, can we get flags right there? how much it cost to enter the site? do they have any other rules we should be aware? My two buddys only speak french so i try to clarify some points for them before we get there.

Thanks a lot!

Yes they test for 98dbs, stick a stick in your pipe to check for a spark arrestor. (recommend taking a stock pipe and tools) there is a store at the entrance called Dune Land they sell flags for $21, orv sticker is $16.25, park daily sticker is $7. There are directional signs on the dunes so your friends need to be able to read english.
The dunes are 1.5 miles wide and 3 miles long need a parking voucher to park in the lot. You should search here

98 dbs....hmmm. Are there any drag quads that ride there? I know..they want to keep out all the riffraff. I think my lawn mower is louder than 98dbs. Are the dunes around a bunch of houses? Do they allow paddles...you know they tear up the terrain pretty good. They charge for parking then charge for riding? Are you sure they even want you riding there? Will they allow you to swim in the lake and if so how much? I'll have to bring my lawyer just to ride there. To much government for me.

There are a lot of drag quads there, especially if you are there on a weekend. The restrictions aren't as tough as they sound. I went last summer and had a blast. Do the math on those prices for a 3 day trip, $37.25 is pretty cheap if you ask me. Most places by me are $30-50 for one day.

Actually, you can rent jet-skis to ride in the lake!

I would be in CA if it was in my back yard. Silver lake is so thats where i go to have fun. Yes you can have paddles on the dunes. Yes you can swim. once youve paid for a park pass you can go to any state park for that day.
ride safe
play safe:blah:

That may be the size of the whole dunes but you can only ride on 450 acres, that's less than 1 square mile.

1² mile is 160 acres
so 450 acres is 2.8125² miles
the dunes are 1875 acres
with the riding area at 720 acres at 1.5 x 3 miles
is summer school in the future?

Where are you coming up with this crap? View the correct info
here (http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/ParksandTrailsInfo.asp?id=493) and here (http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0%2C1607%2C7-153-10365_15070-34760--%2C00.html) .

One square mile is 640 acres so 450 acres is 0.703125 square miles. Don't take my word for it though, check here (http://www.sfei.org/ecoatlas/GIS/MapInterpretation/ConversionConstants.html#Converting%20from%20Geogr aphic%20units)
