View Full Version : Higher octane in stock 400ex engine?

I was wondering if it would hurt or be hard on my stock 400ex engine to run Klotz's 100 octane or a little bit higher. I have always run premium (97) in it, but I'm thinking about running 100 or something just for when I race. Would this be hard on the engine? Also if I run 97 most of the time then bump it up when I race? Thanks for the help.

I used to always run Vp 108 or 110 race gas in my 300ex when it was stock. When I tore it down it looked fine, just a little carbon build up.

why waste your money. Without a high compression motor, it's really not needed.
Just me 2 cents

Waste of $$$ on stock internals motor. Too high of an octane can actually hurt performance (but not hurt anything mechanically) on a lower compression motor like the stock 400EX...

Thanks for the help guys. Definetely sounds like I don't want to use it. I just wasn't sure if it'd make much difference. I'm sponsored by Klotz so I can get the race gas for real cheap but it sounds like it'd just be a waste. Thanks again.
