what's the point? get a 86-89 250r instead. the chassis is a much better setup and for $5000 you could buy a nice one already very well setup.

I know when i went from a 400ex to my 250r i instantly fell in love with the chassis setup and the way the quad sits. but if you have a ton of money invested in suspension and everything else, than maybe it's worth it, but for cheaper you could just put a crf450 between the frame rails.

not worth it.

I think that has to be one of the ugliest quads ever...just having that CR250R engine in there, I think it's mostly because of the huge pipe, just doesn't go with the body and looks of the EX. I think it'd be way better to either get the "old-fashioned" 80's 250R or put a CR450F engine in an EX frame.

I disagree, I think hands down the tecate is the ugliest quads i've ever seen! The hoods alone make me laugh, not to mention the a-arms setup. Guess it's a fast quad though, but just plain ugly.

oh, have you seen the new 05' limited edition 450r all in black, that looks nice.

only 310 lbs...u'd figure for $8000 that you'd actually get a legit race quad not some ghetto looking cr250 powered 400ex frame.

I feel the same way most everyone does about the idea>POINTLESS.

For 8g's u could have a fully customized 250r, with an aftermarket frame, and still have money left to send the suspension in and get reworked for your weight.

My main problem with the whole idea is that i think that the motor doesnt even really look like it should be sitting in that bike. ANd the plastic doesnt even have a cut-out, or a groved space for that kick started to tuck into. I think if you want that look, it would be much cheaper to buy and aftermarket frame, and put 400ex plastic on the R.
Anyways that just my thoughs about it, Can anyone photoshop a 250r motor in a TRX450r now that just mike work, id have to see it!!!!!!

Lets not call it a 250r. Lets call it what it is, a 400ex with a cr250 motor. The motor does not have a counter balancer so it will vibrate more than a 250r. I wonder how much the vibrations will effect the welds in the frame? Having a CR250 motor means the transmission is not beefed up to handle the extra tire to ground contact and the extra weight.

Yeah, i'd also like to see what a 250R engine looks like in a 450R.....it could be cool...but to me nothing looks cooler than a 250R

I've had it all, 400ex handles better then a 250r, unless everything on your R is new. I'd much rather have a new 400ex with cr250 engine then a mint 86-89 R. Hands down.

Ok let the arguing begin!

BLACKeR
11-16-2005, 01:21 PM
whats there to argue about. if hes talking bone stock original parts hes right. 20 year old parts simply wont work as well. 20 year old shocks are going to suck, and the better port mapping of the CR engine would kill the TRX. however put $2000 into the R and its a different game. if he still thinks the 400 Ex chasis is better. then hes just a crappy rider whoes nuts :D. arguement ended lol.

if there both stock and new the trx250r is better stock for stock.

the 400ex does not handle as well either.

what a funny claim lol

PUT the CRACKPIPE down
Drop to your knees with your hands behind your counterweight (head)
Lower your head to the pavement
Bang your head on the pavement until you passout

I realy don't have the time to sit here and explain it all, especially to people who put what size pilot they got in there machine on they're sig. Next you'll be telling me what type of silicon you used on your exhaust flange. So you can take your mis information and run with it. I love this site.. ha

PS.. OO YES the square tubing is the way of the future!! hahahaha.

First off, Beerock has one of the sickest R's I have ever seen. If you took the time to notice, someone with that much money into one, MAY know what they are talking about. And Beerock does. Not to mention he is supporting the idea that the 250r is the best handeling quad-a 16 year Theory. You on the other hand try to say something like a 400ex quad is going to handle better then a 250r(with allittle $). Which is totally stupid, enless you can walk on water?

As for the topic at hand and which "handles better", I'll leave it up to personal preference.

This isn't about some "good-old-boy system" or an "inner circle". Beerock and I are not "friends" any more than you and George W. Bush are. However, to claim that Beerock's signature somehow reflects his level of experience and expertise is completely asinine. He has demonstrated his technical ability and knowlege on this site many times over.

Even I have learned a thing or two from him. I can't say the same about you.
