in the end, modded both out totally, the blaster will out run and out brake the 300ex, and the 300 will out handle the blaster tho, the blaster will also be more fun to ride, i've chosen not to modify my 300 anymore, just maintain it, and the blaster goodies are on the way

yeah, i agree, the blasters are more fun to ride, and are faster, but i feel so comfortable on my 300ex, it'd be hard for me to get a blaster then mod it out..and the fact that we have way to much into my 300 to even look at another quad, lol

I would say go with the blaster only if your going to extend the aarms, axle, swingarm, and get aftermarket shocks all around, and also a 240 big bore kit and different plastics. That right there would be a sweet blaster. Oh, and my reasoning for saying the blaster is they are so fun in the air you can whip them around like a little toy and you are almost always in control. i like that.:macho

i dont really like blaster's cuz theyre so tippy. if you make it wider thats cool. but one of my good friends got paralized on one so i just dont like um. plus i have a 300 and you can wake um up, lol trust me. i can eat almost any blaster, but you have to spend alot of money to do it. money & power wise, go with the blaster. but ridability & trail worthyness, go with the 300. its your choice. ride them both & see which one you like better. there both 2 totally different quads. it comes down to whether you like 2 stroke power or 4 stroke power? i chose 4 because its less maitenance, its whatever you like best dude. hope i helped.

never ridden a 300ex but i have a 250ex. my friend has a blaster.........junk.....the ex has been beat to hell.......drown 3 times(fixed by draining everything).......and has been over backwards easily 80 or 90 times...still runs like a charm...the blaster has been beat but not as much as the ex....blasters not very good in the trails either....it's been drown too but that took new pistons sleevs gaskets and everything to fix.... its also been blown up 4 times now just riding normal.....STAY WITH 4 STROKES!
im not saying this just becuase i like honda but because the blasters aren't a good machine IMO

My brother has a Blaster with a pipe, the head milled, K&N, Jetted and a port and polish from one of the better known Blaster engine builders. I have a slight edge on him in a short drag with my 400EX and of course I walk away in a longer drag do to the faster top speed of the EX, I also weigh 50 lbs more than he does.

It does has a wicked power hit, and is fun to drive. You really have to work the clutch to climb rocky hills with it though. Also be prepared to replace your rings 1 or 2 times a year if you are going to build the engine, although it is pretty easy to do on that motor. Brakes are also not so good.

He bought some lightly used Banshee front shocks and they are much better than the Blaster shocks. Also if you replace the balloon stock tires with some Razors or Hole Shots it's not nearly as tipsy.

Well Coming on a honda riders forum and asking a question like that is always going to be biased. Especially from me
300 all the way

i say blaster, now that they have real brakes, i think they are the better machine, if you dont mind the two stroke maintence

this is coming from a guy with a stock 2003 blaster and a heavily modded 300ex

i have both i river ride with my 300 and drag race with my heavily modified blaster.... if i was u i would get the 300 for trails and mx and whatnot but if u drag race or what not get the blaster otherwise get the 300

I'd say go with the Blaster. I've ridden both and had alot more fun on the Blaster. It definitly wasn't as reliable, but a good quad to boot.

And to fix the tippyness, I changed the rear tires to Holeshots and never had a problem again with that tippy feel  .

blasters are tippy because of their short wheelbase and small width, i dont like um. my buddy had holeshots on it when he got paralized i believe. i just dont trust um. IMO they should quit making blasters. 300 all the way. ive ridden both and i like the 300 more all around. blasters got some power ive got to admit, but the 300 heavily modded (mine) will smoke one (stock). if your buyin a 300 or a blaster to mx, IMO, dont buy either get a 400 or 450. blasters and 300's are way out dated. even with the so called "spruce up" on the blasters theyre still a 10+ year old quad. if your gonna mx go ahead and spend the money on somthing good. cuz now im booting myself in the ***. if your buying a quad to trail ride go with the 300 blasters arnt good for trails. your constanly on the clutch and typical 2 stroke crap. so you see, blasters are virtually pointless. they need to discontinue them.

If you want to check out some pretty nice MX Blasters go to Project Blaster (http://www.vcatv.com/PBhome.htm). And check out the picture section. They have some pretty nice blasters.
