Guys, I am in the market for some shocks to replace the stockers, but I have no idea what to look for in a good quality shock. The main type of riding I do is dune riding & fast trail riding/play racing. I am thinking about doing some mx racing at the local track this year, but I don't know if I will yet. Can anyone give me some pointers on what to look for in a shock? Thanks

I don't own any high quality shocks yet but I have been around the forums for awhile and have researched and right now I am saving up for some elka triple rates with comp/ adjust. If you wanna go cheap and just want better shocks than stock then get the works and if you are looking into the higher grade works then you should just think about getting elka's instead because they are a lot better product and you can get the ssd.

The Best Shocks are Axis. I don`t think you need Axis though. The PEP ZPS are Second Best, but you will be Waiting for them for a Long Time. I will be going with Elka`s. I am getting the Setup I have in My Signature.

WarriorMan, we sell Axis and Elka. I have run both shocks and can honestly say that I cannot tell the differance in the way they preform. We took both shocks apart and layed them out on the bench, the internals were identical. There are a couple things about the Axis that I don't like however, they use standard brass pipe thread elbo's to attach the hoses to the body's were the Elka uses a compression type fitting like a brake line. It just seems like Elka pays more attention to detail. I believe the Axis are more expensive because Penski ownes them. Axis is a great shock but Elka is just as good for about $500 less. Thats just my opinion tho.

Thanks Jeff. I am Happy with the Shock Setup I am going to get. I can`t Wait to Ride with the Elka`s.

That`s not Bad. Is there any Big Riding Parks around you Guys?

Yes! Sometime people come down and pickup parts then I take them riding. If they don't like the setup then we will go back and change them. My personal practice track is 10 minutes away. There are several OHV parks within a 2 hour drive from us.

Do any of these Parks have Internet Sites? I remember seeing a 2000+ Acre Park in Kentucky, but I don`t remember the name of it. We wanted to go there this Summer. Do you ever go to the Badlands or Haspin Acres? That would be Nice to be able to Test the Parts.

I have been to the Badlands lots of time, mostly in my Samurai tho. Haven't been to Haspen in about 8 years, I want to go and try one of there Harescramble races soon.
