NO DUCT TAPE!

I used heat tape, and it worked really well. It will still be exetremely hot, but it won't melt your fender if you wrap it around a few times.

Also put some heat tape on the fender its self. Just make sure to clean the plastics really good with somthing like brake clean to make sure it will stick to it, and stay on there:)

ya, i was thinking about wrapping the exhaust with foil, then when i get the sticky heat tape, put that on the inside of the plastic, kinda like extra protection

LMFAO this thread has ghetto written all over it.

DO NOT use duct tape. Derekhonda has the correct stuff, put it on the plastic, not the pipe. If that don't work, which it should, use header wrap on the pipe. But honestly if your pipe is melting your plastic there is an issue with the fender stays that needs to be addressed. Either that or your pipe dont fit worth a chit.

You quad should of come with a small heat sheild foil type stuff the goes on the side of your fender to keep your exhaust from melting it, atleast my bikes came stock with some. Its sorta like a solid peice of foil that sticks to the fender and has some thickness to it. See if u can get some from your dealer.

I bought some of the moose heat tape and put on my fenders but it melted right through. It has worked on previous quads, i think it is just the 300ex, i've seen others with problems.

You could also try exhaust wrap, its basically a cloth material you wrap around the exhaust...
