I am going to buy an HMF slip-on exhaust tomorrow and main jet, just need to know how hard it is to put the Main Jet in. I am new to four wheelers. I have an 04 400ex. Any help on how hard and what to do would be appreciated.

It is very easy, you will need a 17mm wrench and a 5/16th socket. at the bottom of the carb is a bowl. the bolt is at the bottom of the bowl. make sure the fuel is off. unscrew it(careful there will still be some gas left in it. inside is the main jet. use the socket to remove it. thread in the new one and lightly tighten it. reinstall the bowl scrwe and you are done. turn on the fuel and go. it will be a little hard to start until the gas gets in the motor

Thanks for the help. It sounds like I'll be able to do it myself. Also, what size jet do you think I should get? I am running a stock 04 400ex and buying the HMF slip-on exhaust. I live in Southeast Iowa and mostly use my wheeler for trail riding and hill climbing.

i would run a 155 if you're keeping the airbox lid on....i have a stock 400ex with an HMF slip on and it runs great with the 155....i tried larger jets and it was too rich.
